On a 9-1 tear! Still up 2.5 in the East.

12 runs tonight! The lineup is scorching hot right now. Since Riley came up, there are no weaknesses 1 through 8. Albies hitting 8th... that's ridiculous.

If only they could play the Pirates all the time

Just took 2 of 3 from the Nats.

Folty sent down to the minors. Soroka hit by a pitch and had to leave the game today.

They're on the verge of running away with the division, and that's without consistent pitching. Exciting times!

Went to the game on Saturday. First time, the stadium is really nice.

Pretty exciting game to start...the first 2 pitches were home run and triple. But they ended up losing 4-5. Still a fun time.

Braves head to Milwaukee fresh off a sweep of the Padres. Webb to the DL and Ynoa called up.

I'm a little bit concerned about the ability of this organization to develop young pitching. Soroka has been great. Fried has been okay but is trailing off and fighting blisters. Newcomb has finally found some success in the bullpen, but it would be a massive disappointment if he never develops into a starter. Minter has been a disaster this year. Touki has been pretty terrible. Wilson and Wright have been overmatched in their limited appearances. They're all young, so I'm sure they'll get better, but the league's best farm system from the last 3 or 4 years should have yielded more than 1 reliable starter and 1 reliable reliever to this point. Ian Anderson has the best chance of breaking though, imo, but I'm not sure I trust the Braves to get him to his full potential.

Markakis and Swanson to the DL. Acuna left today's game as well after a slide into Seguras knee. Hope is is ok. Duvall was called up to replace Markakis and hit a HR in his first game.

Duvall has come back swinging the bat well. Maybe he'll be the trade deadline upgrade that he was supposed to be least year. With Riley struggling mightily and Markakis hurt, it would be a huge boost if Duvall can keep this going.

The trade for Chris Martin was a good start, but they still need another starter and a legit closer. Allard probably needed a fresh start. By the prospect rankings I've seen, he was the 10th best SP prospect in the system, and that doesn't include young guys who are no longer considered prospects due to their MLB service time (Soroka, Fried, Touki, Newcomb). He never really lived up to his draft pedigree. Hopefully he can flourish with the Rangers.

Braves acquire Greene, Martin, and Melancon at the deadline. Didn't give up much for any of them. Rough start for Greene so far though.

Braves up 7 with 14 games straight coming up vs the Nationals and Phillies.

Minter was called back up yesterday along with Bryse Wilson.

Braves clinch a playoff spot.

Camargo fractured his shin and is out for the year.

Culberson hit in the face when attempting to bunt tonight. Looked pretty bad. Nationals appealed to first to get it called a strike instead of a HBP. Not sure if Rodney was trying to throw up and in like that but it was a very dangerous pitch.

Magic number down to 1. Should allow some players some rest to finish out the year. Freeman, Albies, and Acuna have played a ton.

Acuna only the third player to hit 40 HRs before his age 21 season. 3 steals away from the 40-40 club.

Foltynewicz was terrible for the first half, but he's been dominant for the last month. He's earned himself a spot in the NLDS rotation, IMO. Soroka, Keuchel, Folty, Julio. Fried to the bullpen.

MLB must have a sense of humor. Sam Holbrook is the crew chief for the series vs the Cards. We can see if any infield fly calls happen on balls off the wall only once it's clear the fielder wont make a play.

Braves resign Flowers and Markakis, moving up 2 mil from each into 2019. Each will only count 4 million in 2020. Also extended a QO to Donaldson. Declined options on Hamilton and Terehan.

Braves picked up Hamels for one year.

Now waiting to see if another bat can be added.

Markakis opts out of the 2020 season. As does Felix Hernandez.

Braves DFA Folty after one start. I tend to think it had more to do with something off the field or in the clubhouse. It was concerning that he was throwing like 89-90.

Wright had a couple of good innings to start yesterday but fell apart in the 3rd.

With Hamels perhaps never throwing a pitch for the Braves, our SP depth is going to be tested.

In positive news Swanson is off to a good start.

Forty lost a ton of velocity, and I'm not sure he has the mentality to be consistently good. I did read that service time came into play on the DFA though. His 5 years of service time was approaching, and with the shortened season, the time for 2020 was being prorated to the point that he would have been credited for 5 years in another week or so. Had he reached 5 years, he would have been able to reject minor league assignment in the event he cleared waivers (which he did) and become a free agent.

So, between his issues and Sean Newvomb's inability to take his next step, the rotation is a MAJOR concern. Soroka and Fried seem locked in, and maybe Wright will develop rapidly. Maybe Touki will figure things out. There are a lot of young options, but I'm not sure any of them are ready.

Soroka has a torn Achilles and is out for the season at least. Albies and Adams to the IL as well. Markakis now joins the team along with Jackson got recalled. Braves are 8-4 trailing the 3-1 Marlins.

Starting pitching is the overall biggest concern. What a waste the Hamels signing has been.

The Braves looked poised to make some noise, but the starting pitching kinda regressed from last year. The injury to soroka doesn't help. A big trade or two could go a long way.

Nice walk off win last night and the Braves are officially in first place now. Still lots of concerns as the starting pitching has been rough. Acuna on the IL now. Markakis has played well since rejoining the team.

It might be time to give someone like Davidson or Weigel a chance. Cant do much worse than what we have been trying.

Braves set a franchise record tonight with 29 runs! 29! Duvall had 3 jacks and 9 RBI!

The rotation is an absolute disaster, but this lineup is lethal.
