What I love about baseball...your team gets a chance the next day to get going!
In retrospect, it took the following for the Phillies to beat us by one run:
1.) Max Fried's worst outing this season, if not the last two seasons, both on the mound and in the field. Not sure if was just rust or still some lingering effects of the flu-like stuff he had, but he clearly was not his normal self.
2.) Nick Castellanos, who had the second worst WAR in baseball and was the 2nd worst defensive player in all of baseball, having an absolute career day both at the plate and in the field. His catch in the 9th is probably what saved the game for the Phillies, because if he misses it Contreras is at 2nd if not 3rd with only one out in a one run game.
3.) Multiple missed opportunities by the Braves in the early innings. 7 runners stranded in the early innings after multiple walks is just not going to get it done.
Have to give the Phillies credit, their guys got the hits and made the plays to win the game. But I still believe this Braves team is the better team in this series and that they will get it done.
Some positives:
1.) Acuna looks like he has found a rhythm, has his timing down, and is seeing the ball.
2.) Olson looks primed to go a hot streak.
3.) Our bullpen gave us a chance.
4.) We have a later start time today, so hopefully that day game BS that seems to always get us will not have an effect.
