A big IF that were to be the bracket then our path could be SC State > SMU > Miami > Ohio State > NC State > Georgia

Anchorhold said:

... I just have a feeling that Georgia going to be hard to beat three times this year..... Let's beat Florida four times, Ohio State 3 times, and Miami twice!....

Similar to how Mary was screwed out of it last year……

If that means Mia will become the #2 player in the nation next year, I wouldn't complain as much! Definitely frustrating though

There were some excellent freshmen this year, but I think the SEC tournament did her in unfortunately. I think she deserved it and I'm sure she was in the running.

#2 for Arkansas. Beat Salma in a very close match so obviously very good. Too bad they didn't play - Mia played #3 that match and won in straight sets.

She struggled down the stretch. She looked vulnerable the last few matches. Need her at 100% if we're going to make a run at the title.

Very unfair that Mia didn't get freshman of the year and also Mark sharing Head Coach of the Year is ridiculous considering we lost Carson and we still swept the regular season. Apparently the coaches vote on this and very political I'm sure. They are jealous of the Aggie domination.

Also, how is it that The Eagle and also KBTX hasn't even mentioned on their websites that Mary is the SEC Player of the Year and Mark is the SEC Head Coach of the Year. That is big news in the sporting world especially compared to some of their other headlines.

Freshman All-SEC Team: Both
Freshman SEC Player of the week four times: Both
Plays Court #3 Singles: Both
Plays Court #2 Doubles: Both
Ranked ITA Singles: Mary #55 / Mia #54
Ranked ITA Doubles: Mary #73 / Mia #78

She sounds like she isn't enjoying college. Probably isn't challenging her enough for where she currently is as a player. But in reality, she was never coming for school. Surprising they even got her for one year

Why DID she come? NIL money?

Seems really dumb of her. I know other sports have minimum age requirements and so on so it's not an apples to applies comparison, but why would any athlete who is top 100 in the world at a sport that pays well professionally (assuming they actually want to play that sport) go to college?

TBH I had assumed that she wasn't all that high on playing pro tennis based on the fact that she's extremely out of shape and that she came to college at all.
Ag4eva95
How long do you want to ignore this user?
She can't earn NIL since she's from out of the country, so I have no ****ing clue why she came over. The only thing maybe is they would pay for her pro tournaments and free practice, but doesn't seem like it's up to par with what she's wanting. She's about to auto qualify for grand slams. Don't think college will help her

It makes no sense to me either. Her coaches were even surprised she came.

She shared previously it was challenging to travel as a Russian tennis player and she felt college would provide stability.

She can't earn American NIL while on a student visa. That can't stop her from making international endorsements.

If she wants to get the true American/ capitalism experience she should try the transfer portal.
Ag4eva95
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Right, but how does that equate to her capitalizing on NC State NIL/endorsements? What would classify as American vs International?

They obviously convinced her somehow to join. No way there wasn't money involved. Maybe we will see them with NCAA violations in a couple of years

Great player with tons of upside, but it's not like she breezed through the season. Just shows you how tough the the top players at the D1 level are. Her advantages are that she's a lefty with a big serve, but obviously beatable and maybe she realizes thar, too. She does need to focus on fitness if she wants longevity as a pro.
