Old Main, thanks a bunch for your excellent work in the research and necessary artwork to put this letter together.
In this ad the Bevel looks especially Frantastic. You can't see much more than 4 white trapezoids. It is almost as if being in the CBI, losing to Illinois State, and keeping Kennedy weren't bad enough.

On the other hand, if it weren't for the bevel, then noone would have ever known who Wyoming was playing until the teams showed up to the gym. They should have outlined the logo in gray.

The entire logo doesn't display well as you indicate. With that dark background why not use a white aTm outlined in maroon? To me it has more to do with displaying the best representation of our logo, which many of us believe is the Classic Block aTm on the football helmet. I could draw a pink aTm with a crayon and fans would still know who was playing Wyoming.

Actually, that logo is not properly presented according to the TAMU site.
If the logo is presented on a black (or dark background) it's supposed to be presented with the white square behind it.

I went to grad school here, but it wasn't in marketing. I don't think that one needs to have a graduate degree in marketing to recognize bad geometry and bad design in our logo. Most of us had basic geometry in elementary or middle school. Rocky the Dog has been in graphic design for 40 years and he hates the Bevel as much as I do.

Old Main's examples are valid arguments for showing how the bevel degrades our logo. Bevel adds no value; often degrades; screams bad branding.
