Long but good letter. I never even really cared about the bevel look. However, am now convinced it could be better or go away. Hopefully someone listens and takes action.

yes, I completely agree with this point here.

Furthermore, the MSC is a memorial which is seen by hundreds of thousands of people. It is just disrespectful to have anything so egregiously out of order.

One change you may want to make to future iterations of the letter: the Michigan logo (called the "Split M") you display is being phased out over time. The University of Michigan now says in their guidelines it should be avoided. I know that, similar to opinions among some about the bevel, there were strong opinions about the Split M as well.

That is a good tip about the "Split M", I didn't know that. Whether you see the Split M or the M without the "Michigan" banner across the center it is still a simple, collegiate logo. This further proves the point that details are important. Four trapezoid-shaped lines can ruin an otherwise classic college logo.

My vote is strongly against the bevel. It looks cheap. You shouldn't alter classic brands--especially at such a tradition-rich institution like A&M. Stick to history and the traditional aTm

Bevel looks great. Would be silly to go to all the effort to remove the bevel from all of our merchandise / facilities at this point.

I pretty much agree with the OP.

The bevel can be nice and it can be done to look very professional. The one we have does NOT look geometrically correct, it does not look good, and it's a very POOR mark for our university to stick with.

Make it flat or redo the bevel to be geometrically correct. Let's not live with a trashy logo.

Instead of getting all hung up on bevel vs no bevel look at the bigger picture Old Main is making of better marketing for a product now seen in a better marketplace.

Marketing art is usually simplified over time both to convey a stronger brand and to uncomplicate the background noise. Apple went from the rainbow colored Apple to the simplified single colored Apple. If Loftin indeed was making a 100 year decision on moving back to the SEC then is it time to have a marketing symbol that reflects it?

Keep your eye on the long term picture and not just some internet tough guy fight with Old Main.

Complaining on a board is not really a waste of time...it takes literally a few minutes of your time...a mini thesis to higher-ups at A&M about a logo that I would guess they have no intention of changing? Now THAT is a waste of time!!
