Gaetz just voted for Trump!

Proof that these people aren't serious
Actually it is proof that they won't vote for McCarthy. They are serious which is why they don't vote for McCarthy

Then spend a few minutes before this whole deal and find a viable 3rd option instead of being obstructionist.
Once McCarthy sits his ass down, that will be possible.

Right now, 202 republicans are afraid of retribution if they vote against McCarthy since they assume he will eventually win. Once he steps aside, they are free to vote more freely.

McCarthy is every bit as much responsible for the "obstruction" as the 20 patriots.
McCarthy has 90% of the Republican Conference's votes. He is not "every bit as much responsible for the obstruction," he's 80% less responsible than the Taliban Twenty

Equating members of Congress with the Taliban is reprehensible

This is no different than the Dem Quorum Break of '21. No real plan to move forward, just dragging their feet to delay the inevitable.
The plan is to get McCarthy out of the picture. What is hard to understand about that?
The hardest part to understand about it is that it's not going to happen. There have been >10 GOP congress people now express that, due to the detractors, they'll support no person other than McCarthy. So do we sit in stalemate for 2 years? Or does the 10% take their negotiation victory and join the 90%
We'll see who outlasts who, then won't we?

Doesn't change the fact that your statement on "no real plan" is bogus and a lie.

McCarthy can't get to 218. Last night "Adjourn" only got 216.

I love it. Politics should be bare-knuckled, rancorous, and extremely contentious - but out in the open for all to see. I want a knock-down drag-out fight over every single thing. It's supposed to be extremely hard to pass stuff. I don't want politicians working together - that's when The People get screwed and the politicians get rich.

It's supposed to be tedious and difficult and thankless so that only the most dedicated and principled people want the job. Not a Good Ol Boy, gravy-train, feed-trough of money, power, and influence.

REPRESENT the people who elected you. Fight for them tooth and nail. And when you're tired of fighting, step aside. It's not a career. It's service

What great negotiation victory have they won? McCarthy hasn't made a single relevant concession. Why blink first if you still don't get what you want? You'd be a terrible negotiator. They don't have that much to lose at this point.

He initially reduced to 5 votes for a vote on speaker and last night reduced to 1 member at their request. Last night he gave in to put two members of the HFC on the rules committee and is considering allowing a third member like Massie on as well.

He's making concessions. It appears both sides are negotiating in good faith, which is exactly what I expect of a man as honorable as Chip Roy.

Time for McCarthy to go. He had 2 months to lock this up and couldn't. He's coming off super weak now willing to give up on whatever to get the job. The 20 have him by the balls. He can't be trust to negotiate with democrats seeing how weak he is negotiating with the 20.

And the 20 are demonstrating the Republicans can't be trusted to govern. All or nothing attitude with small majority doesn't work. They rather watch the world burn than get most of what they want.

AMEN!

This is how the process SHOULD work. Kevin can't get to 218. He needs to step aside and see if someone else can get the 218. That's how you build a coalition government. Instead Republican leadership wants to intimidate the minority in the party.
