Republicans won't win the presidency in '24 and could very well lose the house after all this done.

Stupid infighting taking place on this stage should have been settled weeks ago.
It was settled in a caucus vote, but these 19 refuse to accept the results of the vote.

Seems to be a new trend in the low-IQ faction of the party.
No one is obligated to vote for the person who wins the caucus vote. It's like some of you didn't take high school government class.
obviously they're not required to. But that's what playing for the team looks like.
Well this team sucks ass and needs a new captain. McCarthy ain't it
I hear you Irish. But the captain was chosen in the caucus vote. The winner is the winner and the loser just has to live with being the loser.
He isn't the winner though. Your premise of the caucus vote is no different than members crossing lines for votes on bills.

McCarthy is a loser. He said himself in 2015 when we went through this **** with him, and I quote, "I am not the that guy". He is not that guy and cannot unify the Republican house members. The freedom caucus is stubborn and heels dug in, that's why I love them. They will do McCarthy no favors if he is elected Speaker and I could see them torpedoing anything he tries until he steps down.
The other 203 don't want someone else though. The 19 need to get on board, not the other 203. Minority rule can't become the GOP standard.
Those 19 stop anything that McCarthy tries. The fact that McCarthy is doing this **** again after not having the 218 last time is bull***** He can't let this go for his ego. He needs to step aside for the good of the party.
Maybe the 19 need to put aside their ego and let this go.
Maybe the 203 should pull their heads out of their ass and realize that RINOism never works and has helped push our country over the cliff.
Please explain how voting for the Republican consensus choice for speaker makes one a Republican in Name Only.
Because he is a RINO choice. We have seen what he, Boehner, Ryan, etc. have done when they got the chance. They vote for ridiculous spending along with Democrats.

McCarthy is the problem. He's the one with the ego. He already moved into the Speaker's office. If he cares about the party, he needs to step aside.

I've only followed this very loosely as I don't think this leadership election matters one iota in the big scheme of things, but I agree. I'm also not a big McCarthy fan. Meh, whatever, is my attitude, but I like that everyone is pissed today about it all.

These 19 are every bit as self centered as the 213.
Like hell they are. If they were self centered then they would have gone along with the 203.
I'd say, not being able to find a candidate to get the support of anywhere close to a majority of the caucus, then blocking the candidate who does get such support, is the very definition of selfishness. They are throwing a tantrum. Hell, even MTG is adult enough to know that this is a loser stunt.
A tantrum in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in pursuit of anything is no virtue.

They did not even get to the E's in alphabetical order when 8 non-votes by GOP Freedom Caucus made it apparent McCarthy will not have votes in third round! The Democrats in the gallery started clapping.

As for me -- I think it's all funny.

The house is all but on fire.

They tried to. McCarthy ignored them. He was so convinced that the GOP was going to win in a landslide and wouldn't need to rely on dissenters and could get the new members votes. This is a crisis of his own doing.

No one knows what they want because they have no actual demands. It's all a publicity stunt.

It took me a while, but I realized my bigger enemy is the Crenshaw's rather than AOC.

Why? Because AOC tells me what she thinks. She tells me openly she is my enemy. Crenshaw stabs me in the back along with other RINOs. McCarthy I thought not to be a RINO, but his behavior has proven it now.

We may indeed may get a plurality vote for Jeffries. Not sure how that works with a Democrat speaker and GOP majority.

Are we on the verge of coalition government forming in this country? Like Italy or UK?

Y'all realize this is why democrats win, right?

Because they manage to put their egos aside and stick together to get what they want done.

The dems are sitting here laughing at the 19.

If the 19 were really speaking for the rest of the country, they would be the majority. Alas, they aren't.

And if we ran our families like you'd have the GOP leadership run the country, then we'd all have daily candy for dinner, and kids would never have to go school. Sometimes adults need to take charge and do what is right, for a change.

(And democrats win because RINOs go along with them. Hell AOC voted against the Omnibus, but it didn't matter because the likes of Liz Cheney voted for it.)

This is the first time in my life I honestly don't care what happens. Republicans voting with lame duck Democrats to pass a 2 trillion dollar spending bill is unforgivable. At this point we need a new party.

The demands thing is a side show. They don't want McCarthy because he's swampy (he is). That simple.

Neither is McCarthy.

(And if Jim Jordan is voted, he would absolutely take it. That is the type of person we should all want to be speaker).

Not only that, 19 people in some of the safest republican districts out there. They are children throwing a temper tantrum so that they can go on fox later and talk about how much they stood up to the swamp etc.

1 or 2 members of a jury can scuttle the whole thing. You need the majority of votes for a reason. If you can't get em, you can't win. Step aside and let's see if the next guy can.
