I'm in favor of whatever tactics are necessary to usher back in fiscal conservatism that has been absent from government since Reagan left office…

Stop cutting deals for pet projects that cost taxpayers billions, and start being a government of the people once again…
The last 3 days have seen the most fiscally responsible congress we've had in maybe 100 years.

It's personal in that McCarthy has shown himself to be untrustworthy in his dealings. That should be reason enough to exclude him from consideration.

The House can achieve all of those things while having a more principled Speaker. This has the potential to be a seminal moment in politics (and our Country). The Freedom Caucus needs to press onward.
She has more balls than all those RINOs put together. Good for her for standing up to the establishment. She is right - THIS is how our government SHOULD work - not just rubber stamping what some appointed leader tells you to do.

So from what I've gathered, in order for their to be a functioning House, there must be a speaker.

For some reason there is a voice in my head suggesting that there is some vote the house is scheduled to have regarding their own pay. Maybe in Feb.???? Can you imagine them postponing that? I would bet our 20 will.

Exactly, and we are seeing it in action on the House floor, glad we agree.

It's also more than passing thousand page bills no one has read that put taxpayers on the hook for trillions of dollars.

Comments coming across twitter make it sound like some of the 20 have folded; however, we'll see when the votes are tabbed, I also think if we see a 3rd nomination here in a moment the applause will be a giveaway to the count of holdouts.

Mark Levin (who is against the 20, by the way) explained yesterday that they are unified in their opposition to McCarthy right now, but not unified in their purpose.

He said there are several who want certain concessions and then will agree to vote for McCarthy, several in a second category, and then maybe three who say they will never agree to McCarthy.

Why are they voting multiple times a day without knowing what the results will be? Isn't it more important for a leader to negotiate all terms prior to vote than voting and hoping to get the results they want?

Ted Cruz brought up on his podcast today that the house would be in recess if it wasn't for this so I like dragging it out as it isn't affecting anything else but their time at home.

Because that's the only thing they CAN do until they're all sworn in. And they can't do that till they have a speaker.

So I'm good with it going 6-7 years.

They're all milking it - but it's quite interesting watching them air the dirty laundry. Washington is broken. It's not the Peoples House.

I can't believe Pelosi didn't change the format to that before she left.
