Scalise has been quoted that he won't run in opposition of McCarthy.

Looking forward to Team Trump taking their 4th "L" in a row in another election.

It's more likely Trump would get it than has been Choking Cheney or Crying Kinzinger...

Until people start openly discussing politics with family, friends, co-workers, and the general public, the low information voters will keep voting for the same establishment politicians until they are hurting so bad it is near impossible to correct.
The people on this forum are likely more informed than 99% of the general voting public yet I would venture the vast majority here are too scared to talk politics with peers out of fear of losing a friend, family member, or their job, etc. But to continue down the same path by avoiding conversation means you are allowing the ignorant to choose politicians that are actively taking more from you than had you simply had those conversations yourself....
Put the effort in and you will not have to worry about how much damage McCarthy is going to cause or how little he is going to prevent.
If someone starts aggressively discussing politics with me out of the blue I am walking away immediately. Way more important things to deal with in day to day life.
**** like this had to stop! It has nothing to do with Trump, other than the swampy corruption he exposed or highlighted. We can't survive as a country with more of the uniparty you seem to crave.98PercenterAg said:He hasn't been to Mar-A-Lago enough times this winter for this board's liking.girlfriend_experience said:
So McCarthy raised 238 million for the PAC to help the GOP in the midterms? Im not seeing an issue.
True. It would also take away "Yay" votes he has received in previous votesTTUArmy said:This would be a bad move for McCarthy. It would vindicate the worries of constituents in the Freedom Caucus. Doesn't mean Dems wouldn't do it themselves just to throw a wrench in the works.HTownAg98 said:
Might be better for McCarthy to try to convince some Democrats to just miss the vote.
This point should not get lost in all this in-fighting. Joey rushed back from his island vacation and is impatiently waiting to sniff some little girl's hair. Can't we set aside our differences and think of Joe?PhatMack19 said:
All of the newly elected members have their families sitting in the next room waiting on this vote so they can have their traditional photo op of them getting sworn in. They may be waiting a while.

I'd be happy with Scott Perry, but won't happenCharpie said:
But what if McCarthy says, "yeah I'm done." Jim Jordan doesn't want the job. So who?
Fear and smear, and comply or die messaging don’t inspire trust, @gopleader. Those are tactics not befitting the next House Speaker.

The establishment was too busy voting for the democrats' agenda up until the last hour last week.45-70Ag said:
Republicans won't win the presidency in '24 and could very well lose the house after all this done.
Stupid infighting taking place on this stage should have been settled weeks ago.
So what's your litmus test for low IQ, someone who disagrees with you? Stop being so ****ing obtuse!98PercenterAg said:It was settled in a caucus vote, but these 19 refuse to accept the results of the vote.45-70Ag said:

Seems to be a new trend in the low-IQ faction of the party.

This is the best thing that could happen to America. No Speaker for the time being. Literally the government can't do anything to mess stuff up right at this moment. HA!
Realistically, 99.9% of the population isn't paying attention and don't care.45-70Ag said:Ellis Wyatt said:The establishment was too busy voting for the democrats' agenda up until the last hour last week.45-70Ag said:

After this clown show, republicans won't have to worry about republicans voting dem because dems will control congress again in two years.
I'm not saying they should vote for McCarthy, I'm saying this clown show is going to ruin any chance of holding on to it.
Yeah you're WAY high with that number.Aggie95 said:
This clown show doesn't impact the next election one iota. About 10% of voting public is even watching or paying any attention
Yes, they would have members walk out, move to make a quorum call, there is a new quorum and then McCarthy is the speaker until a motion to vacate the chair happens. Not sure about the current rules in the house on a motion to vacate. Could get messy quick. Best guess is they ignore the MTV change the rules in the house to avoid a MTV and then thumb their noses and move on.coconutED said:
Is the vote majority of members or majority of members present? If some Democrats walk out, would that lower the amount of votes needed to win?
No one is obligated to vote for the person who wins the caucus vote. It's like some of you didn't take high school government class.98PercenterAg said:It was settled in a caucus vote, but these 19 refuse to accept the results of the vote.45-70Ag said:
