I'm not in favor for any of them. McCarthy is john boehner and the group of whatever the number is today are self centered politicians/liars. They're all worthless.

And when McCarthy wins, it will show Gaetz and the others are attention *****s. They will be bribed for their vote and gladly give it.

Some of the 20 wouldn't vote for McCarthy regardless of concessions due to his lack of honesty. I get that, but really that's secondary to the concessions at this point. You have to be willing to accept a partial success in politics or you are part of the problem.

I suspect he'll get enough with the concessions and appointment promises to get enough votes, despite those who won't vote for him at all.

I think it means that a lot of Republicans don't really care about conservative ideals.

But we will see what happens when the Freedom Caucus folks start getting to use the new influence they are supposedly being given (Rules seats, etc.) and whether they can use it to impact legislation going forward.

"If" they don't win? They lost awhile ago. They've just made it as painful as possible for everyone and pissed off a bunch of folks they would need to get anything of substance done.

Whatever you feel about their substantive positions, the "Right Wing Populism" movement is stuck playing in-the-moment reactionary politics. Like I said yesterday, they have a very short and shallow playbook. They're a bunch of Ted Cruzes but worse.

Meh, not really. The reality is there are probably at least 20 RINO's in the Republican Caucus that would just as soon compromise with Dems and get a Concerned Moderate as Speaker. It's about votes and the margin is 5.

If you want to change it get more conservatives elected. Otherwise you are screaming at the clouds. It's not easy and it's certainly not fair or right but it is how things work. The reality is there are a LOT of people who don't care about the Consitution, the power of government over their lives, or what is best for the country. They care about their own interests or what they perceive as their interests.

This is a long war we are fighting and it's likely not one that will be resolved in our lifetimes. Even if it is it will restart again. Buckle up and fight dealing in reality or just go off in the corner and scream that life isn't fair, that's the choices.
