Yep
Pretty much.
The "Righty Squad" might make is a second vote, but then it will happen.
At least the Wicked Witch of the West is no longer speaker.

Until people start openly discussing politics with family, friends, co-workers, and the general public, the low information voters will keep voting for the same establishment politicians until they are hurting so bad it is near impossible to correct.

The people on this forum are likely more informed than 99% of the general voting public yet I would venture the vast majority here are too scared to talk politics with peers out of fear of losing a friend, family member, or their job, etc. But to continue down the same path by avoiding conversation means you are allowing the ignorant to choose politicians that are actively taking more from you than had you simply had those conversations yourself....

Put the effort in and you will not have to worry about how much damage McCarthy is going to cause or how little he is going to prevent.

Having the house is pretty useless if you then start an internal brawl instead of doing anything constructive. I mean, it still obstructs the Dems but it sure doesn't set up for anything positive to sell to the public in the 2024 cycle. You can't get everything you demand all at once through sheer stubborn will. Maybe get some things at least.

Business as usual then, because the Republicans couldn't have F'd up the last election cycle more if they tried. Lets just turn off more and more voters.

If someone starts aggressively discussing politics with me out of the blue I am walking away immediately. Way more important things to deal with in day to day life.

That's not congress. That's the local and state party infrastructure being absolutely lazy and distracted with the wrong types of campaigning and election legal maneuvers.

Other than the line order to POTUS, what power does the SOTH have and other than the "Let's get it started" debate, why not take our time and put a Chip Roy in that position? Ok Roy is a rookie, but a seasoned for sursie good guy.

If we don't fight illegitimate impeachment with legitimate impeachment, the marxists on the left will forever block republican presidents from governance as they did with Donald Trump.

How would he bring anyone to justice? You seem to not understand how the Gov works. Democrats control the Senate and a Democrat is the President.

They'll bumble this around so long any momentum to do anything for us will be lost. They need to be issuing subpoenas today for Fauci and his gang, Ray Epps, et al.

So I understand this side of the argument that individuals like Gingwrich have. I wish I understood the politics involved in this. Are these "5" essentially selling their potential mcCarthy vote for political gain (certain committee selections).

I am wanting the "5" to battle against the established, but is that why they are anti mcCarthy?

Do they just keep voting every so often until an agreement is made?

One of the pro McCarthy vote arguments is that McCarthy is the most prepared for the the SOTH position. I find it hard to believe that no other candidate is prepared to go after the bad guys.

The idiots blocking it don't even have any actual remaining demands or an alternative, or at least ones they are admitting publicly. They're just attention *****s and are doing this for publicity.

It's not that he's the most prepared, but the one with the most support that wants the job.

And there are 8 no votes.

Quick SOTH election question:

McCarthy was nominated by Republicans and Jeffries (NY) was nominated by the democrats. Biggs (AZ) was also nominated by the republicans and Jordan has already gotten a few votes.

If the Biggs and Jordan votes dip into McCarthy's numbers enough for Jeffries to have a majority of the votes, will he be the SOTH? Or does McCarthy already have it lined up so that the Jordan/Biggs votes won't overtake the 9 majority difference (assuming all dems vote for Jeffries)?

Ah...so they'll take the first vote, no one will get the 218. So they'll vote again and McCarthy will get it?

To be Speaker you have to have a majority of votes for a person, so normally he'd need 218. However, if there present votes that will lower the threshold - ex 2 present votes lower the threshold to 217. Jeffries won't be speaker unless a bunch of Republicans vote present.
Captn_Ag05

Correct on the revote unless the people voting for other people would have voted present. Voting present reduces the number of votes needed to get majority.

Biggs has 5 thus far (still only in the H's on roll call), and Jordan has 2 so it sounds like they'll at least go to another vote.

A symbolic waste of time.....typical.

Proved my point and we continue down the same path.....

But I was not referring to aggressively discussing politics. Just casual discussion whenever it comes up. It does not have to be forced or a long drawn out debate.

Instead of how's the weather, or did you see the game last night, or how is the family, go ahead and add political small talk to the list of things you discuss with peers.

Any extra source of discussion is an improvement over the MSM monopoly the LIV's are currently using.

The next time the feds do anything constructive, it will be the first.

I want deadlock in the federal government, that is the absolute best scenario for the people - because with deadlock, at least they can't F things up any more than they already have.

I don't send reps and senators to sing kumbaya and reach across the isle, i send them to do anything and everything to stifle the left's agenda and if I get a little conservatism out of it, then it's icing on the cake.
