If Mcarthy really gave a rats ass about the party (and country), he would step down due to the recognition that he couldn't lead the GOP even if he won.

The fact that he hasn't done so is proof enough that he is not worthy.

Can you tell us where you kept hearing his name brought up? Some one really likes screwing with you.
It seems others got the point I was making.

His name has been mentioned but in the context of prior Congresses before he retired to pushing up daisies.

BS. If Jordan is elected speaker, it's only a matter of time before he does something (some kind of compromise, no doubt) that enrages these mental midgets and they move to vacate the chair, starting this process all over again.

The Democrats got all their pork through last session by uniting. That's the only hope the Republicans have for stopping more of the same.

So much this.

McCarthy is on a sinking ship. Its either put him in his own boat and let him sink just himself or elect them as captain of the Titanic and watch him sink the whole party.

I would hope the negotiations have moved on to the next candidate.

You see dead people, don't you?

If you think I am a liberal, you are incorrect. Assume sarcasm on my part. Sorry if something I post has already been posted. Just the way it is!!

If you really wanted to gode the libs on, do this and then refuse any mention of his being Black. Say we put forth a candidate we could all agree on and who shows exceptional leadership - then say NOTHING else.

That would be a great first step to ending racism that is continually stoked by those on the left, including their Prophet Barrack el-Hussein al Obamadaddadoo and his trusty KKK acolyte Joseph Robinette Biden.

Dude, literally next to none of them have principals. In the entire Congress. At least "principals" in the sense that they are strong enough to override the usual go along to get along of this snake pit.

Rand is one I can think of and I'm sure there are a literal handful of others.

We're you around in the '70s or the even the late 60's?

Reagan was front and center on politics, he had his own radio show or radio spot like Paul Harvey where he talked national politics after his CA governorship. He made Ford piss in his pants at the convention before Carter beat Ford.

Man you seem dense. My post about Powell was a joke and meant to make fun of the brain dead vegetable currently occupying the hologram oval office in the Exec Bldg.

But if it makes you smile to think I am clueless about Colin no longer being with us, go on and smile. That concept makes me laugh at you so we all benefit in the end.

amazing that Boebert literally underperformed all the Colorado Republicans- she barely squeaked out a victory by 500 votes in a GOP district!!

and the lesson she learned was- go even crazier hard right and throw even more bombs around the political landscape.

brilliant!

at this point it's better to just vote for democrats against Gaetz and Boebert- at least we can avoid the embarrassment of having them in our party if they are going to vote as leftists anyway!

Correct. Seems folks forget that Ford was put forth as a VP nomination to effectively serve as "co-president" but the deal fell apart and '41 was selected.

Reagan was not the obvious choice for many and he definitely was not a compromise candidate of last resort.

LMAO

the guy who was GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA, spent decades talking about national policy on the radio and TV, who RAN AGAINST AN INCUMBENT REPUBLICAN in 1976...

but "he didn't want to be President"" when running in 1980.

seriously, the amount of knowledge about REALITY is at such a low level in some of these posts.

If Jordan does something that moves us away from liberty, then they should move to vacate the chair. That would be GREAT. That would ensure that he doesn't do something stupid.

And the real mental midgets here are those who think that THIS RINO WILL BE DIFFERENT!!! Those who actually understand conservatism and economics are the smart ones in the room.

It's easy to unite behind buying votes with taxpayer money. It's hard to do the right thing. We should want people who strive to do the right thing. Not those who unite behind screwing over America.

After a while, yes. But before he was on a mission to support others who thought like him. He had no notion of running for president when he made his Goldwater speech, for example.
