Quoting: Trump started a movement that is now out of his control. That old guard has got to go.

Trump is a deal maker. It pains him to see actual politics take place.
Do you really want to emphasize how great he is as a deal maker the way he repeatedly ends up destroying what he is trying to achieve by his crazy deals?

Take the USFL for example.

What has Desantis said about any of this ?
Supporting McCarthy- the 20?

DeSantis was one of the founders of the freedom Caucus. That stands for a lot more than (D) Trump's recent comments about abortion and now his siding with the Uniparty to make McCarthy speaker.

In 2024, I won't vote for Trump. I'd rather Dems win if he's on the ballot.

Take the exploding US economy under his administration for example.

Take the fact that we had NO NEW WARS under Trump. My point stands.

And he won't. He's a very well seasoned, shrewd, and disciplined politician who will wait until all is said and done to give any kind of response.

He's got '24 in his sights and right now he's the front runner with a margin that just keeps getting bigger by the day. He's got nothing to gain by jumping into this mess.

I don't care who's declared, I don't like any of them, left or right.

Desantis is the only one who's not only acted like an adult while governor, but more importantly, has led by common sense.

I seriously doubt that he won't run, and by what history has shown, Desantis is saying and not saying all the right things that have precluded someone running for the White House.

If McCarthy so much as whispers about a deal with dems to gain the speakership I'd wager large money that at least 50 GOP will defect away from him. At that point his political career is over short of switching parties.
McCarthy only needs 5 liberal/moderate R's to cross over and vote with all Dems to give him the speakership in exchange for a more moderate House.

I don't want that, but that's the reality.

My point is if the 20 R's think they have all the leverage, they're mistaken.

Hopefully cooler heads prevail and we get a conservative majority in the House.
It is my understanding the 20 R's see the holdout as their one chance to exert leverage to establish an operating framework for this session to steer the agenda in a few key specific areas (term limits, Church Committee-style investigations, reign in spending, etc.) and a mechanism for accountability. If they fold, the opportunity has passed and we go right back to the status quo.

The concern now seems to be in the process of negotiations between the two R factions some shady stuff went down that has turned things personal between certain members and emotions and settling scores is winning out over compromise and finding a solution everyone can live with.

I think at this point it is a complete waste of time and exercise in futility to continue to hold vote after vote with essentially the same results, if things continue this way for much longer it will be successfully weaponized by the media and result in a net loss for everyone.

Best suggestion I've heard yet - send everyone (the R's) to a bar to drink and remain there until they resolve this within the party.

Unfortunately, acting like an adult nowadays is actually something subjective to some people. No, I am not saying you are one of them.

That being said, those that say "acting like an adult", and I'm including folks on the right, can see the difference in how Desantis carries himself compared to Trump and see that as acting like an adult. Not acting like one is what put enough conservatives off of Trump that they voted against him in the last election, and acting like one is what's bringing those same people, and more on the right, to Desantis' side.

If someone can't see the differences in how each acts then I don't know what can be said to help them see.

McCarthy said last night under no circumstance will he give up the race. Either a deal with him will be worked out or 200 plus people have to change their vote.

Republicans just a few months ago had every opportunity to take control of Congress and failed. We get control of the house and this issue was well known a month ago but I guess the clown show was wanted. Only republicans could turn even a small victory into a mess. I don't like McCarthy, I don't like the 20. I don't like any politician really, they're all self serving and liars.

Never go full r-tard.

Discovered my rep Weber voted McCarthy. I called and let a message saying my household doesn't support that vote.
May have to ring up Rep Weber myself.
