Why do they even sit down after every speaking point? Just keep standing and clapping. They have to be tired after voting for 3 days straight.

Give them some slack. Being in charge is really hard work.

Reagan was from rural Illinois and moved to California in his 20's for work.

SJL, how does a constituent pull that lever for her!
Her constituent services are top notch. I called her office once trying to get a causeway pass for a space shuttle launch. After about 20 seconds trying to explain what I was looking for, they put me through to SJL.

I was pretty friendly with a GOP congressman for a while. I also maxed out to his campaign a few times and he always returned my calls but his office staff never would put me in direct contact with him.

Constituent services, or lack of, is one thing that hurt Boebert and caused her race to be so close. If you're going to be controversial, at least do the basic duties of your office like set up ways for constituents to contact your office.

I'm a Boebert fan and voted for her twice. That said this is true. I contacted her office along with the the 2 Dem Senators here about an issue. Got the usual response from the senators but never heard a peep from her office.

It's amazing what Constituent services can do for you.

My friend knew Charlie Wilson real well. I asked her how a drug using, alcoholic, womanizing, democrat kept getting elected in East Texas.

The answer was he took care of his people. For instance, if a VA loan was hung up in the system, a call to Charlie's office had that loan approved by the end of the day. Simple things like that.

Jefferies speech was trash talk. He is just like Obama. He never liked that he was born black. We are all from different races but from one species out of Africa some 100 k years ago.

The one thing a politician should pledge is to execute their duties according to the constitution without bias and fairly and never give one group of people benefits while taking from others. So far in my life that is all I have seen in Washington DC and for that matter in Austin Texas. For darn sure in Houston Texas.

There is not hope for American unless we follow the golden rule.

I have had much different experiences with her. Trying to get the post office mailbox fixed and reporting homeless blocking the entrance to the post office blocking entry on multiple occasions are met with no reply.

Eventually they removed the broken mail box, but never replaced it so you still have to contend with homeless to put a letter in the mail.

That's how Corinne Brown got elected repeatedly in Florida. "Corrine Delivers!" And her constituents ate it up, because it was generally true.

Of course, she was long considered one of the more ethically challenged members of Congress even before she was convicted on Federal corruption charges.

Yes, and some AMAZING race based gerrymandering that created a district that stretched from Jacksonville to Sanford.

The way this all went, may be likely to have Jefferies in 2 years anyway.

Do you seriously think that republicans in 2024 are going to vote democrat because 2 years prior the Speaker Election took 3 whole days? Surely not.

If it happens, it's more likely that they will stay home when McCarthy RINOs it up over the next 2 years. That's going to happen regardless of how many days his speaker election took.

Republicans? No.

Undecideds and people not really affiliated with any party? Quite possibly. It definitely could shrink any margin of error. The optics of it all won't help

People not affiliated could not name the Speaker today if I offered them $1,000.

No one is paying attention to any of this.

Between back to school week for families and the Bills player having a cardiac arrest event during a game. Then all of the drama of if they would cancel the game and the playoffs I don't know of anyone that isn't a political junkie that was paying attention.

If people continue voting for RINOs in 2024 primaries, then we deserve being in the minority. People have not felt enough hardships from D rule and are still blind to the fact that the GOP says one thing in their platform then devoutly supports RINOs who do nothing when given the opportunity.

I hope you are talking amongst your peers about alternatives to RINOs and how any support for them is essentially guaranteeing the status quo of sliding to leftism. The last thing we need is for voters to fall for the typical RINO tough talk the next two years now that they can propose bills destined to fail in the senate.

I think we have to go further. We can't allow the machine to give us choices. We have to find good people at a local level who are willing to do this.

They know that they'll win because we have to choose from the choices they give us. What if we suddenly gave them a choice?

We have to find good people who we know among Us to run.

It's going to be extremely difficult and I'm not sure if there's enough candidates out there but we have to put good people in place to win this war.

I think the beginning of this means that we have to understand the process of becoming a candidate. At a local level or whatever. We need to do research kids! We need to be aware the deadlines to declare and we need to know what it takes to register.

That's going to be the first step.
