I work in DC; this whole situation is irritating. I'm torn between wanting true conservative leadership and the frustration of dealing with the fact that this wasn't resolved prior to the first vote - a hallmark of the Democrats. Always organized and prepared - to the expense, at times, of our country. But controlling these houses is critical. The liberal media and my Democratic strategist friends are having a field day watching this.

does not compute. those same people who allegedly hold them in disdain still voted for them 2 months ago.
Most of them did not campaign on shutting out populist conservatives. Now they want to.....

I am angry at the whole charade.

If the whole thing burned down, it would short term hurt us all, and long term at least give us the chance to build something better.

I will no longer reflexively defend the GOP anymore. That ship has sailed.

Dan Crenshaw effectively called me a terrorist. I am sick to my stomach.

Let them have their field day for now. The day of justice where they will be held to account will come --- in this life or the next.

They all deserve convictions and then the gallows as far as I am concerned for crimes against the America people ... starting with Maxine Waters and Adam Schiff.

Some truth to that. But how many did it due to a lack of options? How many felt good about it? How many are watching this clown show today rooting for the twenty going against the establishment? Even the ones just sent back.
seems like a stretch with nothing to substantiate that.

they had options in the primaries and the actual election. they chose to go with whom they did. they could have chosen not to vote if they held these candidat4s in such "low regard".

i do not think some of you realize how middle-of-the-road the actual majority of "Republican party" voters really are.

Without some data supporting your assumptions, there is no way to draw the conclusion that they are middle of the road. In fact, there may be many many more who AREN'T middle of the road than you suspect.

Hell "Adjourn" couldn't even get to 218. Only got 216. 214 terrorists voted against it.

This is a tough crowd.

The "Taliban Twenty", as the "obstructionist" are called, know that it will be business as usual if McCarthy is elected.

The Democrats have already called for "common ground". Where was this "common ground" when they held the House?

I am a Christian that actually believes the Bible. It teaches that evil will be punished. Evil is punished in this life often by the law or by natural or societal consequences. But for those who get through this life without being held to account for their crimes and evil deeds, their punishment is either one of two places ---

1) On the cross with Jesus (If they trust in Christ and repent of sin)

2) In hell for eternity where they get their just punishment.

This is nothing but standard 2000 year old Christian doctrine that most Americans believed in prior to say 1970. So what makes it 'like the Taliban' in any way? The comparison is ludacrous.

It's almost like they have a lot riding on McCarthy being elected speaker... because otherwise, you just *****d yourself out to some random dude who can't give you a committee appointment / sweep things under the rug long enough for you to get your share of the action.

I'd like to ask people like Hannity and Gowdy, why does McCarthy have to be speaker? Why is that a requirement when 20 republicans are so opposed to it? Why can't they work together to find someone that is acceptable to 218 republicans? If the answer is that there is no one like that, then why is that the fault of these 20 congressmen, and not all 222 republicans?

I don't see this as a clown show at all. I see it as a valid political negotiation that happens constantly in Washington, only this time, it might actually be for some good and more integrity in congress instead of purely about money and power.

at the end of the day, all of this is pointless because whatever the "republican house" manages to pass will automatically be shot down by the dems who vote as a block. always. even manchin.

so this is people pissing in the wind doing nothing else but getting piss all over themselves.
While this is mostly true, it demonstrates the importance of what these 20 are trying to do even more. Because the only real power the House will have is withholding money, and that's a big part of what these guys are trying to do - keep things from being business as usual and forcing some real negotiation and progress by controlling funding.
