I am not going there .... but most that voted for him are neo-con establishment.

I hope these concessions were worth it. I am willing to see.

Yes, demanding that people that voted for McCarthy resign is a wild take, but fearing blue vs red is missing the forest for the trees.

I would gladly give up two years of a blue SOTH if it meant that a new wave of politicians can enter in the GOP that ideally are more conservative than the McCarthy establishment types.

Unfortunately the vast majority of people are sheep with their head in the sand and will gladly walk off the cliff when their leader leads them to the edge.

There is a part of me that wants to let the Left have EVERYTHING at the federal level. And see how far the Red States will allow themselves to be pushed before they say ENOUGH.

Wild thought just popped into my head that I'm sure has significant flaws due to my lacking knowledge of how the House operates.

D have Presidency,
D have Senate with VP tie breaker
R has the House.

Under these conditions not much will get passed legislatively from either side.

Even if we had a D SOTH, that does not mean that D controls the House. It's not like if the D SOTH refuses to bring R majority legislation to a vote will matter because it will not get passed in the Senate.

What's the harm in this scenario of holding ground against McCarthy and forcing him to deal with D's thus exposing his lack of conservative ideals?

Accepting concessions now just keeps the status quo where establishment gives an inch but takes a mile, though this would be one of the rare times where establishment gave an inch.

Force the RINO's to admit they would rather side with the D's than support a conservative candidate and agenda and hopefully the sheeple will finally get to see the wolf in sheeps clothing that they foolishly have been voting for these past decades and thus correct their voting habits.

Not sure if it has been said, yet.

If a Speaker isn't decided today and the newbies allowed to get sworn in... NOBODY gets paid. Not even Staffers.

A Speaker was going to be decided today. That's how it works.
That would possibly happen on January 13, not today.

so based on what you wrote above you aren't going to vote for Trump in 2024

because he is supporting McCarthy.

Cite the quote again.... because I understand that he said he would resign if there was a deal with Democrats to give the speakership to McCarthy. I did not see that he would resign if McCarthy became speaker.

... on the other hand... if Gaetz ended up resigning in disgust....... he would not stand pat. He would be a threat to the establishment by building an independent populist movement.

Apparently, after announcing the election lawsuit in Florida, the Trump wing of the GOP and the entire Dem wing are teaming up to vote in Mike Lindell.

They're also getting custom pillows for every chair in the House for a whopping 75% off, but they have to order now because supply is limited.

right?
How is that relevant?

I support RINOs that sometimes sway from the GOP platform in locations that a better conservative will have trouble winning in, such as California where McCarthy represents.

I do not support those squishy RINO's leading the GOP when the GOP has a majority.

Trump supporting McCarthy for SOTH is idiotic, but that does not cancel out all the great things he did for this country other than the Covid boondoggle spending spree and allowing three letter agencies to spiral out of control.

DeSantis in 24, but if he does not run and Trump does, give me Trump without question.

You do have significant flaws in the how the House works.

Your plan means that Dems appoint the Chairs of every committee and thus control the bills and agenda of those committees, that's what the Speaker does. So no Oversight or very little (Hunter Laptop, Church Committee, on and on) happens. Essentially the little power the GOP was going to get they just give up.

Your plan also is FAR more likely to have the opposite effect. It will show the GOP can't work together and can't govern. Now I understand as a conservative how that sounds great but the reality is conservatives are not the majority in this country, at all. Even among conservatives many still want government to operate and to get some wins. In order for your plan to work you would need a massive wave of conservatives to sweep the GOP Primaries and then to win the General in '24. Oh, and they have to do it somehow without much money because the money comes from folks that actually want to get legislation done. If you have a few billion of your own sitting around to fund it then great but otherwise you are talking about suicide.

This is not the time to go for the golden ring. This is the time to send a message and get significant concessions and fight for more in '24 hopefully with DeSantis or Trump as President and a GOP Senate. Hell this session of Congress is only going to be relevant for a few months before the '24 race takes over and even sooner if Biden doesn't run and you have both Parties fighting over the nomination.

Chip Roy did this the right way. He was reasonable and clear and got concessions. He made good points and won over folks. In the end though he also knows that there is no hard core conservative with enough pull to win the Speaker's race this cycle because there are enough RINO's to block it just as the conservatives are doing now. In the end these folks have to work together and burning every bridge with no plan that has a chance of succeeding is idiocy, that is unless you don't care about actually enacting real change and would rather just talk about it.
