What is going to be really interesting in the fall out of all of this is all of the email and other company communications that Elon now owns.
I'm sure all of the emails from the DNC and biden administration agencies asking twitter to censor information and shape narrative for them will prove to be some interesting reading.

What I don't understand is the whole "firehose" of data Twiiter supposedly gave Musk throughout the process, yet Elon still needs his guys to review even more code? What kind of game was Twitter playing there?

You don't think they scrubbed it almost 100% clean?

You rightly don't trust what the constant redactions and incomplete reponses to legal demands in the Mueller thread. Think of this as similar-- would you trust woke activist zealots to give Elon accurate and complete info? requests. Pleased that in this case Elon is not acting like a typical Republican Jeff Sessions type and blithely ambling along trusting the foe and taking their word given their record. He was smart to have his own double-check.aggiehawg said:

The "firehose" of data was specifically for accessing user data - account info, etc. to find bot stats. It was NOT about viewing the source code that makes up their software. Now, I have no doubt that they viewed some of that source code before as part of due diligence. But in a semi-hostile takeover like this you have to get in there and take a look at EVERYTHING as of this point in time. You just don't know what you might have missed or what might have been done/added since you looked at it.aggiehawg said:

Yep. I'm wondering if there's a way to integrate some sabotage before they left.

Honestly I don't. Because they didn't think they were doing anything unethical. To them, they were saving democracy.
I think once they got the offer from Musk, then there might be some legal issues...but then I'm not a lawyer.Premium said:Zarathustra said:Premium said:ThunderCougarFalconBird said:

Good point, and would it even be illegal to scrub if the orders came from the then acting CEO?
Yes. If done while a public company, securities fraud and possibly bank fraud for any lenders/creditors.Quote:

there was a "do not delete" as soon as Musk made the offerPremium said:aggiehawg said:Yes. If done while a public company, securities fraud and possibly bank fraud for any lenders/creditors.Quote:

Deleting emails would be? I'm no lawyer, but I could def see it being illegal once the deal was made.

If he did that, most of the C-suites would be Texans most likely. San Fran punks wouldn't move to Texas in large numbers in any event.Harry Stone said:

No way. For all of its foibles, Twitter is subject to about a million foreign and domestic laws and regulations. That means they have to keep data on hand. Same thing for their insurance carriers. So as much as they might want to scrub whatever damning materials inside of their systems, they can't.Premium said:You don't think they scrubbed it almost 100% clean?ThunderCougarFalconBird said:

Once they were litigating with Musk, they were for-sure under litigation hold notices as well.Ag with kids said:I think once they got the offer from Musk, then there might be some legal issues...but then I'm not a lawyer.Premium said:Zarathustra said:Premium said:ThunderCougarFalconBird said:

Caveat here: As the new owner, a lot of that becomes his problem if they did.Quote:

A problem with a competing platform is that Twitter has already been adopted worldwide.
Yes. The same paradox that some skeptics don't understand is why we have such records from the Germans regarding the camps and "processing". They were not bashful about their work. Think of Eichmann's trial.Zarathustra said:Premium said:ThunderCougarFalconBird said:

I suppose. But the then-in-place D&O policies will obviously need to be triggered and the ensuing litigation will help to get to the bottom of what was destroyed and why.aggiehawg said:Caveat here: As the new owner, a lot of that becomes his problem if they did.Quote:

This is a large public company. You don't just get to shake it like an Etch a Sketch and pretend everything is just fine.
