The fact twitter had a human rights team is just another data point on the fact twitter wasn't acting as a social media company - they were shaping and influence public perception, governments, etc.

amazingly, 60 Minutes did a story on Indians replacing Americans in the Tech sector probably 3 or 4 years ago. and then the American getting fired would have to train their lower paid replacement from India.

To some degree, but nearly 20 years of this approach at our company (Fortune 100) has largely demonstrated that we basically get what we pay for. I'm in finance, and we've got some systems where most of the IT team is in India, but if anything remotely complex is needed, they are literally dead in the water waiting on the one American here to fix it. It's a team of 5-6 over there and they aren't worth the 1 we have here.
