It's personal fulfillment to do a good job. I am miserable if I am unproductive, shareholders be dammed. I am happy and fulfilled knowing I did something worth while.

It is the difference in an internal vs external locus of control. I don't need someone to tell me I did a great job or crap job, I know. And I also know that they will figure it out if they are a company worth working for,

Sure, that girl got a great gig for a period of time, but I guarantee she will be canned and then she is broken for life and will most likely never be fulfilled or achieve anything worth while. Same as people who win the lottery with no self control, they will be more broke then they were before winning, and twice as miserable because they tasted the good life and farted it away.
