if there is another party involved, they would really have to lift the curtain on them this week so the third act is dealing with him/her/it.. We are at episode 6 of 9, and bringing in someone too much later would feel like a cheat.

and IMO Ralph is not real; just a TV trope being used.

You may be right about Ralph, but someone is amplifying Wanda's power. In the comics, that person is Mephisto while Agatha is an ally. Mephisto makes sense as a Loki level or perhaps even Thanos level bad guy.

Malekith almost destroyed the whole universe in Thor 2. You can always go "big stakes"

Thanos wasn't personal. But he was powerful, thanks to the stones.

Doom will entirely be personal.

And I believe because of that Doom will be a much better, more menacing and more impactful bad guy.

I mean he only wiped out half the life in ONE universe, and it only lasted five years before it was undone. Pretty lame stuff really.

You raise a good point... if Malekith wanted to return the universe to darkness, does destroying Midgard only destroy earth? Are Mars and all the Guardians planets still safe?

Either way, he sucked. There are plenty of cool villains left, but the more personal ones are probably the ones that will be most effective.

Thanos and the infinity gauntlet is the best massive cross over event that Marvel has ever done. I don't blame them for making that the centerpiece of their 23 movie arc.

I think there are a number of cooler comic villains than Thanos, but I don't know how many of them translate to film. We've seen a bunch of really bad efforts over the years between Spider-Man, the X-Men movies and even some of the lesser MCU. Doom always seemed a bit silly to me, so we'll see if they can get him right.

Was just thinking about the scene where herb was trimming hedges and got stuck in the fence and realized there's a direct correlation to what Wanda said in the recent episode about how silly it seems that she's controlling everybody all the time (like dentist appointments). I think what we saw from herb is what happens when Wanda (or whoever) aren't in control the whole time.

I got to thinking today....what supervillains were impacted by the Thanos snap. I could see a situation where Death (thanos' beloved) is affected.

Or, since we dont really have an explanation of the snapped people, if they merely ceased to existed or if they were banished to another realm (like Mephisto's realm, they did ash, member?) Or they could have Limbo which is another demon dimension...

Agreed... never liked Doom as a villain. Way too much hype, too little results.

I want David Tennant to be a villain like Mephisto.

Esp if the Netflix stuff isn't canon. He was so good in Jessica Jones.

you could say the same thing about Thanos.

He has pulled together the infinity stones 5, 6 times, and either ****ed it up, destroyed everything then decided he was bored and recreated it, or warlock *****ed slapped him.

and all for Death. The worst Goth schoolboy crush in the universe.

I'm probably blanking on someone but what super villains have we really seen besides Thanos and Ultron in the MCU?

Hasn't really been anyone else that could go toe to toe with the Avengers besides those two supremely powerful beings. It seems like we are do for a villain team up in the next phase that can give the Avengers / X-Men / FF some pressure.

Dormammu is potentially pretty powerful if Dr. Strange weren't involved.

I don't think there is a big bad in the show. I think it is all Wanda trying to deal with the grief of being snapped, losing her brother, losing her parents, and losing Vision. Though I'm not sure how new Quicksilver fits in.

By product of her emotional pain and ability to create stuff out of thin air, or she opened a door to the multi-verse.

Everything we already know points to the latter.

Edit. Or, actually she did the latter by accident and then her ability pulled the former in to this universe.

Her subconscious may have manifested him through another universe. By her creating this alternative world within Westview, she could have inadvertently created an opening to other universes. That's a theory out there. While I disagree that there isn't a big bad involved here (too much pointing to it and the fact that all the stories in the comics surrounding Wanda breaking down usually involve someone manipulating her and her powers to get what they want. Mephisto, Doom etc), it very much is possible it's all Wanda. Part of what makes this a really good show is all the theories out there.

So if we do get a reveal of a new "big bad" character, does it happen with a couple episodes left in this series to explore him/her/it, or is it a final shot type of reveal and Dr. Strange MVoM picks up there?

I think they do reveal the BB, in the show, but he/she/it may not be battled against until the Dr. Strange.

From a macro view, I'd say the odds are like 0% that Disney is going to put a show on the air that boils down to a woman taking an entire town hostage (possibly killing a guy?) because her lover died.

I think there's definitely some other player(s) in the game, but I am starting to like the idea that we don't really meet them until the very end.

IronMan, the workhorse of the infinity saga, has no capability to fight a dormommu, the shadow king, or mephisto.

If they dont go magical, the other possibility is touching mutant villains. There are like 3 or 4 mutants in the new shang-chi film, all vying for the ten rings. Mutants can be fought by "ironman". Physical damage makes films action-packed.

While I would love a supernatural villain, I fear the villain has to be tangible and able to be hit.

Did you ever play the Marvel Ultimate Alliance? Doom steals the power of Odin and realigns the universe with him as potentate. (This is the final chapter of the game). That type of storyline would be fun, but Doom only accomplishes it by collecting a group of a supervillains, promising them the powers/titles they all desire, giving it to them then subsuming the villains under his new reality. No honor among thieves, eh?

Bringing loved ones (Vision & Pietro) back from the dead is classical Faustian bargain/deal with the Devil.

In addition to that, I believe in the comics Wanda's children Billy and Tommy are a combination of a manifestation from the Scarlet Witch and soul supplied by Mephisto.

At this point, it would be surprising if Mephisto isn't the Big Bad.

So I'm looking at pictures of Mephisto on the web. Is this character supposed to be a devil, something like that? Like many of the Marvel characters, Mephisto is a name I've heard of but know nothing about.
