Came home the other night and found this fella in the road. He had been hit but stayed pretty intact.

I think it's the one I saw in the past week and encouraged to get out of the road then.

He was a good sized copperhead.

Awesome my kids are going to be so stoked to find out their dad was way off hahaha. Yes, SETX. a few years back I found a one off in this thread as well, some sort of green something or other. This sucker could SWIM.

I think that's a first for me.

First thought was rough earthsnake but it just doesn't look right. Then I convinced myself I could see faint lines on it that looked like some kind of garter or lined snake.

That one is full grown, might even be a preggo female. Cool thing with them is they only eat molting/soft crayfish.

Not in Texas. Around here we call them Crawfish Snakes, Crawdad Snakes or Mudbug Snakes.

At first glance I thought it was a short bull/gopher snake. I'm used to eastern hognoses with much more vibrant patterns.

Does anyone here think the Glossy Swamp and Louisiana Pine snake look a little like Eastern Brown snakes from Australia? Prior to finding this thread years ago, I'd never heard of either of the first two.

Since I have a BIL from Queensland, I've been educated on the Brown, especially their lethality.
