Don't know about the specific type but yes, an odd colored coral where the red showed up almost jet black. If you zoom in to the left side of the photo it follows the pattern correctly and you can see traces of red where they should be.

Today I got an almost 6ft rattlesnake in a barn we go in and out of everyday. I have pics but not sure they are allowed considering we didn't let this one get away. Just wanting to remind people checking around things or letting kids play in hay barns over the summer. Thank God I spotted this one before anyone got close.

Who do I have here crossing the street in my neighborhood in B/CS? Best I can tell from looking at pictures on Texas snake websites is it is a Northern Cottonmouth. I'm probably wrong. If incorrect, who is he?

The picture of the cottonmouth in your link is a juvenile (notice the green/yellow tail), which can resemble a copperhead in coloration. The pattern is very different though.

Your snake (in the photo you posted) is a Copperhead, final answer…

I looked up Copperhead and coloration and pattern and it is certainly a match. I appreciate your help. Me and my dog are going to try and avoid our snake neighbor.

Paige texas. Post oak savanna. Ideal copperhead habitat. Rural area that is fairly undeveloped with a lot of grazing and hay fields and post oak woods. Lots of copperhead sized food.

Bright side: we have never seen a rattler, and just 1 moccasin.

That's a pretty poor website. A lot of their photos just don't look quite right, and others I would argue are even intentionally misleading.
