There are only like 5 species of snake in that part of Europe and that pic doesn't look a whole lot like any of them. My best guess would be a really full smooth snake.

Dang you're good. Based on the pics I found online as a comparison, it looks like a smooth snake to me as well. Probably fat from eating all those American tourists…

Found this little one while I was getting weeds out.
Pic fail on my part yesterday on the navasota river.
Had a big cedar elm with a hollow about 10ft up split and fall on my shed. Cut it down yesterday and disturbed a huge speckled king snake. Ran to get the phone but then couldn't find him.
His home before it was dusturbed.

This was in one of my recessed lights on my gazebo. Im guessing rhe bird found the shed and used it in the nest due to the other plastic woven in. Mom disappeared and none of the eggs hatched
Looks like a Carolina wren nest.
Last year I saw a great crested flycatcher pass a snake shed to its mate while I assume they were courting in my backyard.

Posted this to the 2022 thread by mistake. Found this guy by one of our outdoor AC units. I first identified it as a rat snake, but curious if someone on this board could verify?

I am not afraid to say that I'm not at that stage of comfort with snakes to reach out and grab it barehanded, as you can tell from my keen snake identification abilities. Tongs are probably best for both the snake and I.
No, I legit like the tongs. I keep a snake hook in my truck (never gotten to use it yet)

First copperhead I've seen at my place just south of CS in 13 years. Almost stepped on it clearing out the dead stuff from my yaupon. Releasing it away from the dogs, cats and kids that live in and around my place

While my tongs are mainly for the property where we have all of the Texas venomous snakes I have used them a few times in the neighborhood relocating non venomous snakes. Sometimes watersnakes can be super aggressive and I just don't feel like dealing with them, or stick my hand in a hole to pull an unknown snake out
