In those first two pics you can see the crinkly look that's classic rat snake. The pattern is also classic rat snake

https://imgur.com/a/1W4gEVs I don't post enough to keep up with posting photos protocol.These two were found within 20 feet of each other at different times. King was under some oild tiin and the second was in a lumberr pile. If I was him, I would be moving on.

These two and the rat and hognose are kind that I have seen the most of since 1978 when I bought this place. Have yet to see a venomous one.

Found this coral snake on my walk through our neighborhood yesterday. He was right off a well walked trail, so I safely moved him off into the forest

Hit this guy on accident taking my kid to school this morning. He tried to cross the county road and failed. We are on the Lavaca/Fayette county line. I know the ID but will let others guess for educational purposes. I've seen more snakes this spring than I have the past few years. May be just coincidence.

Saw another 5 snakes yesterday, PBWS and diamondbacks. Was only able to get 2 good pictures since the other 3 were water snakes swimming away after we first spotted them.

I have been working with my fiance on how to spot animals and she has caught on quickly, she spotted 3 of the snakes before I did. Her grandfather was a pilot who became a general, her dad was a military pilot that flew commercially for years after he retired from the service, and her brother is a commercial pilot. Needless to say I think she has the pilot eyes and will become better at spotting animals than me in no time.

I understand how yellow-bellied racers got their name. They are extremely fast. I have tried to catch them many times as a kid. I have seen them crawling in shrubs and small trees.

Spotted this hognose in full flattened out mode the other day. Figured he was trying to spread out as much as possible to try to soak some sun through the clouds.
