Game 1 - basically tied at half then we outscore them by almost 20 in second half..

Game 2 - we go up 22 and then lose..

So we out scored them by 42 in second half of G1 and first half of G2, but only went 1-1.

What was the key for us destroying them for those 2 halves ?

WE NEED TO WIN THIS GAME AND PLAY DESPERATE. No reason to lose to this tu team if we are legit Sweet 16/Elite 8 contenders.

Manny had a good first half. Didn't play in the second half. Missed FTs. Thinking we won before the game was over. We did that against lsu in the first half but recovered well against a depleted and bad team. tu has some talented players and Marks always goes left to beat us but we let him go left.

tbis game comes down to aggie intensity. that is or was the difference in the two halves. yes certain players went off or didn't play etc but the defining characteristic of our dominate halves is we just flat out took it to them. when we ratchet up our intensity texas cannot match it.

Strange two games vs. Horns

On Jan. 4 we beat them by 20 with their second-best player Arthur Kaluma going for 13 points, 7 rebounds.
On Jan. 25 we lose by one and Arthur Kaluma is injured and didn't play

I'd like the team to avenge their 1st or 2nd worse loss of the season and continue some momentum going into the tourney. To say this game isn't important is silly. Getting bumped in the 1st round to this team is not going to be good for confidence.

I was at the game, completely outnumbered by the biggest dbag sips you could imagine. The way it ended was excruciatingly horrible.

Based on memory and feels so feel free to contradict or say that I am full of it but

Ags played a late sec tv road game on either Wed or Thurs and then had to come back on Sat and play an early network tv game in Austin. The sips either didn't have a mid week game or played a home game early in the week. 1st half was fine, but we kind of lost a step in the 2nd half and didn't have the juice to pull out of the tail spin. fwiw. Subtle difference but it was enough.

I don't remember going head to head with Vandy for recruits. Anyone who downplays the significance of wining vs losing to tu (especially in their first year in the SEC) is disingenuous.

Losing didn't necessarily affect our NCAA tournament admittance (we'll see on seeding as that can be further debated), but it now potentially allowed tu 'into the tourney' with that win (that alone is failure by Buzz/team). Out rebounded in the first half set the tone (rebounding improved in the 2nd half), but shooting and TOs were atrocious yet again (Buzz needs to hire a shooting coach for next year).

It's definitely an issue that a Buzz led senior experienced team, who should be better on paper, lost 2 of 3 to a poorly coached tu team led by a freshman (and also insure tu will now win that texas cup topic that Buzz coyly played so stupid about -- we should have owned men's bball this year and will get ugly next year with lack of top recruiting....will struggle to be a .500 team next year).

It's an embarrassment on a few levels, but will support the kids and hope they get rid of Jeckel and Hyde performances for the big dance. Buzz also needs to go to baking school as apparently his ingredients are messed up and needs to focus on developing better offensive sets (as we are as pedestrian as it comes).

Agree with many that we prob can't attract a better coach (we don't support bball well enough) and our NIL for men's Bball is pathetic. But Buzz will not take us anywhere - this is his ceiling (admittingly, recruiting nullified vs the schools who will pay and tu pays).

I wish Buzz would upgrade his staff. His focus is so driven on culture - it seems from the outside he doesn't have coaches that either

A) recruit studs consistently (although the water is getting muddied up so much by NIL, hard to know who is good at recruiting anymore these days) and/or
B) can lead the offense better

We really could use both.

And despite our defense being hard working (FAR better than can be said under BK)... the system is flawed for modern basketball and could help there too... We rotate so much - a team that passes will get open 3 looks. Kids (other than ours, seemingly) nail open 3 looks these days.

This isn't football. We don't really recruit against texas for recruits in basketball.
