Ashoka's were awesome... loved that she would ignite them only when needed to remain hidden.

The dark saber was a bit underwhelming... a bit off that he took it out to show off to a child

Random opinion: I thought it was way too phallic of a scene. It actually made me cringe a little.

Also, when did we learn Mandos name was Din? I clearly missed that memo. I also feel like I've asked this before and feel like I have dementia now.

Gideon revealed it at the end of the first season when he starts listing them all off while holed up in the bar

Temeura Morrison interviewd by the NY Times

Morrison had been expecting a call from Lucasfilm ever since they decided to move forward with new Star Wars movies, but he always tried to keep his feet on the ground:
Quote:

"There was a lot of stuff online about a possible "Star Wars" bounty-hunter film, and then I was watching all the new "Star Wars" movies coming out, wondering if they were ever going to do anything with Jango Fett. My agent and I had a number of discussions when are they going to call me? But then I kept forgetting about it. In this day and age, they have a number of options. They could have called other people to play the part. They can go with a fresh face. They could have called the Rock. I felt so grateful that after all this time, something came to be."

Finally, Jon Favreau called for The Mandalorian:
Quote:

"I wasn't even quite sure what "The Mandalorian" was about, but I kind of knew that Jango and Boba had their own Mandalorian history. At the time, I was in Los Angeles, meeting on another film, so I was pleasantly surprised to get the call. I actually got to the meeting quite early I was so excited I got there about two hours early and there were conceptual drawings on the wall. I saw an image that looked like me, and I said, I'm sure that's me. But even then, I didn't want to get too excited."
In that meeting, they talked to him about a kind of different Boba Fett, more seasoned this time:
Quote:

"When we find Boba, he's well-worn, and he's been through a lot. He's a survivor, and he's weathered. Now it was time to find out more about what makes Boba tick. Is he more than just a simple man, trying to make his way through the galaxy? Is he tired of all the fighting? Is he tired of all the killing?
The one thing I can relate to is, I'm quite a mature man now and things always change. Sometimes you're in Hollywood, in all the magazines and newspapers. And sometimes you end up in the fish and chip shop in New Zealand, where all the old magazines and papers go. You're old news. [Laughs.]"

Several things have changed for Boba since the last time we saw him, and the makeup and costume helped Morrison find that new character:
Quote:

"I was doing that kind of background work what's this guy going to look like? What's he going to sound like? and while they're applying makeup, I'm going, well, here he is. We did quite a number of makeup tests and I worked closely with the makeup artist Brian Sipe. When I saw some of the scars on my face, I thought, well, maybe he does talk a little bit gravelly. Maybe his vocal cords have been affected as well. Then you put the costume on and it gives you a sense of power. The costume makes you feel like Superman. When I put the armor on for the first time, it just felt right."

He added that his own background was also put into the character he was playing:
Quote:

"I come from the Maori nation of New Zealand, the Indigenous people we're the Down Under Polynesians and I wanted to bring that kind of spirit and energy, which we call wairua. I've been trained in my cultural dance, which we call the haka. I've also been trained in some of our weapons, so that's how I was able to manipulate some of the weapons in my fight scenes and work with the gaffi stick, which my character has."
The conversation then turned to his role as Jango Fett in the Star Wars prequels. About his casting, Morrison said:
Quote:

"I give praise to George [Lucas] who made me Jango Fett in the first place. We filmed in Sydney, so he used quite a few actors from New Zealand and Australia. It wasn't long after "Once Were Warriors" that I met with the casting people of "Star Wars," and I feel that's the movie that launched me in Hollywood. It wasn't a big box-office movie here in America, but people in the industry saw it, and that opened a few more doors for me, that's for sure."

He remembers that his role in the film wasn't done when filming wrapped:
Quote:

"Even when I finished the filming process, there was still quite a bit of work to do I would keep getting calls from George: "OK, I just need you in the studio to voice some more stuff." One moment I'm the voice of this, and then another guy, and then Commander Cody, and then a whole elite strike force. Things just kept going and going and going, but I didn't mind."

He then weighed in on his unceremonious death as Jango Fett:
Quote:

"Yes, well, I know the feeling. I ended up watching "Attack of the Clones" in Dallas, and I was so excited to watch it with this new Dolby sound at the theater. I was just starting to enjoy myself when I got killed. "Wow, this is good. There I am." [pause] "But anyway." My journey in "Attack of the Clones" was pretty short-lived. But that was a long time ago. Now I'm back
And then, the most interesting part of the conversation was left for the end. According to the actor, he hasn't been told how did Boba Fett survive being devoured by the Sarlacc:
Quote:

"Ah, no, I don't. There's quite a bit of loose ends, and I'm not one of those guys that knows too much about the actual history. The fans of "Star Wars," they have better knowledge of, What's happened? How can he still be alive? I thought he was stuck in this place? I can find out more on the internet."

In fact, he is saying he doesn't know if he'll come back to the Star Wars galaxy:
Quote:

"I'm just going to have to wait and see. I think a lot of it depends on how things go with this season, but I don't really know. I wanted to bring everything I had to that [episode] and give them a glimmer of what I can offer. There's room for this to go someplace. I hope I'm going to be included."

Maybe it's the time of the year, but when Gideon said "you'll take some ones eye out" it made me think of Ralphie and the Red Ryder BB gun in a Christmas story.

Love the Mandalorian, I hate that movie.

ok check this out.....I could obviously be wrong and if i most likely am these final 2 episodes are still going to be awesome......i should also add this: im basing this entirely on my own idea on what i think is going to happen and haven't read this anywhere BUT just in case i'm right i'll include spoiler tags (again...this is only coming from me)

for those of you on this board who know my posts know that i adored Rogue One and still hold it up not only as the best Star Wars film, but the best movie watching experience of my life.

I'm getting RO vibes here regarding to how this story is building and building just as the 3rd act of RO was building and building to that amazing ending.....and here's why.

multiple times in the past Mark Hamill had mentioned his idea for what he thought would be the best into for Luke in episode 7.....i found one video highlighting it here (skip to about 2:50):

to sum it up, his idea was to have Luke force grab the saber in the snow instead of Rey because he would have sensed the danger Han was in (as well as his death) and ran to his rescue to try and save him....then gotten this amazing reveal of our hero's return....obviously this isn't the reveal that we got.

And I believe this is the reveal we are going to get in The Mandalorian. I believe there's going to be a major fight with the dark saber, those shadow troopers, and our heros and they are straight up going to get their butts whipped but somehow that dark saber is going to get knocked away or taken from Moff Gideon and THAT is when we are going to get our jedi reveal for who Grogu caught the attention of in S2 E6.

Could it be Luke? Could it be Ashoka coming back? Could it be another Jedi? Or a Sith? I don't know....but Mark Hamill's original idea of how he thought Luke should have been revealed I'm sure didn't fall on deaf ears and I think we're going to get something like that in the last episode.

Two more......here we go!

Search back through the thread and hadn't seen it mentioned since most of the conversation seems to revolve more around the possibility of Luke/Leia, Ezra, or even Cal as the jedi, but could this potentially be the way they bring Kyle Katarn into the new canon? 5+ years after RotJ could definitely make sense in relation to his Legends story arc.

Thinking about this, and I'm not sure if that was the best way to bring Luke in, but: Luke senses that Han was just murdered. And it hurts because Kylo murdered his father, unlike Luke who saved his father.

it's kind of like poetry, it rhymes, but un-ironically.

Why would it be unexpected? WOuldnt it be actually extremely likely Luke would have sensed a new presence in the force? Wouldn't it be likely that would have prompted him to leave exile (which we didnt know exactly what he was doing or why) to show up at that meeting? He's already had force visions in the past, so we know it was likely he would have gotten them.

When Kylo woke up to see Luke standing over him with a lightsaber, and brought down the literal house, shouldn't Luke have been able to use the Force to just hold all that debris up and not get buried?

Because everything up to that point was that Luke was totally off the map and there was no indication whatsoever that he was even in the picture. Him being unfixably absent was the whole plot. Kylo killing Han would have actually resolved the problem that the heroes were trying to solve.

On Mando, they've basically sent up a flare. We're WAITING for someone to answer it.

Nothing about that plot line makes any sense, and, unfortunately, I doubt anyone involved gave it more thought than you're giving it right now.

Star Wars movie force users are all over the map on their powers. Half the time it seems like they forget they have them.
For example, in the last episode of The Mandalorian, Ashoka got into the fight with lady with the Beskar steel spear. A single force push from Ashoka would have ended that fight at any time. A move we've seen her use against countless droids and Storm Troopers. But she doesn't use a single force power in that fight.

In that instance, I suspect that Ahsoka wanted to truly beat her warrior to warrior in an attempt to extract the information from her rather than just smashing her around with the Force.

It reminds me two things, one in Heir to the Empire where the Noghri first come after Luke. He tries several different ways to elude them and escape or detain them, but they won't do it so he locks his saber on and cuts them all day.

Or more modern, when the pirate/terrorist challenges Captain America to put down his shield and fight man to man in the Winter Soldier, and Cap gladly obliges him.

Yes this is a frequent thing in Star Wars... but there are 2 reasons for it we will call them :

a. a REAL reason for it
and
b. one that you can use to help your suspension of disbelief.

A. So we get to have a badass fight scene on screen

B. Sometimes Jedi want to hone their combat skills against a worthy opponent

A jedi's internal monologue anytime they have to engage in hand to hand combat:

Fezzik: What do I do?
Vizzini: Finish him, finish him - your way.
Fezzik: Oh, good. My way. Thank you Vizzini. Which way's my way?
Vizzini: Pick up one of those rocks, get behind the boulder. In a few minutes, the man in black will come running around the bend. The minute his head is in view, HIT IT WITH THE ROCK!
Fezzik: My way is not very sportsmanlike.

I kind of assume that all force powers work better on weaklings than on strong opponents. Sort of the extension of Jedi Mind tricks not working on Jabba.

Predictions for tonight/ tomorrow's episode? We only have two episodes left this season, right?

I'll go with a "prison breakout" type mostly self-contained episode getting Bill Burr's character out. Based on their propensity to go full into a genre, I'm hoping for a reference or two to famous movies of that genre. (Shawshank, etc.). Ultimately, the episode will be about getting the group together that will attempt to rescue Grogu in the finale. (Cara Dune, Bill Burr, Carl Weathers, Bo Katan + crew, to add to Boba Fett and Fennec). Wouldn't surprise me if Ashoka is in the mix as well.

Maybe a hint at Grogu's message being heard by a force user towards the end of the episode. I actually think it might be a dark-side user at first and then a good guy shows up in the finale.

I think Rick Famuyiwa is directing, FYI.

I like it... I'll go with the force user being a young petulant Ben (Kylo) Solo....with some whiny young actor playing him to ruin the entire thing.

Oh wait Lucas isn't involved any more....jk. He would be 4 anyway I think.

they name dropped Thrawn in the last episode (a creation of Timothy Zahn) so could it be his other fan favorite creation Mara Jade the future wife of Luke????

Or Ezra?

Longshot - Mace Windu lives (missing an arm) and he takes Grogu to make sure he is trained.
