since they have gone with the ridiculous "keep your face hidden" idea (completely invalidated by everything in Clone Wars or Rebels), the issue is mostly irrelevant whether true or not.

He is not always in the armor, and his voice can be imitated.
For those not up on the news, the rumor is Pedro quit / was fired during the middle of season 2. Apparently he wanted more face time without the mask, and Disney / LF said no.

I haven't been overly crazy about the "have to keep your mask on" thing since it seems to have come out of nowhere, and as an actor I would probably want my face out there... but this is something pretty awesome to be involved with. I wouldn't have walked over this. As mentioned though, it wouldn't be that difficult to seamlessly replace him.

I don't think it "seems to have come out of nowhere."

There have been several references to some kind of massive event involving the Mandalorians that has pushed them to the brink of extinction and changed their entire way of life.

I think it's pretty good world-building, and something that presumably we are going to learn more about as the show continues. I like that they didn't feel the need to explain it right away.

It's not like the people making this show don't realize the ramifications of something like that. Just gotta have a little faith that they're going to get to it.

Sabine at the end of Rebels had left Mandalor and was on Lothal waiting for Ezra. So using her as a way to invalidate the new creed is kind of a stretch.

and Mando is not on mandalore.

they made a point about him not showing his face since he was younger and others referencing Mandos not showing their faces as if it has been in place much longer than just 5 or 6 years 10 years .



Ok so Rebels ends 4 years before the Battle if Yavin, and the Mandalorian is set 10 years after the Battle if Yavin. So there is a 14 year gap there. Depending on when the night of a thousand tears takes place I can still buy into the new Mandalorian tradition of not removing your helmet. But yea there needs to be some more world building to explain things a bit.

I'm only half kidding but maybe it's something an Orthodox/reformed Judaism situation. Due to persecution some sects go hard back to their roots and adopt very strange customs. And because they've adopted this very orthodox lifestyle they're very rabid/passionate about how it's the only true Mando way and any other Mando doesn't count and isn't following their traditions.

Mandos not taking the helmet off being common knowledge could also be a bit of an exaggeration prior to it becoming the widely held practice by them.

Like if people only knew them for fighting or merc work then it makes sense they'd have that reputation across the world even if all the Mandos didn't do it
