Listened to this week's episode of The Watch podcast today, which had Star Wars enthusiast/expert Mallory Rubin (Binge Mode) on, and all three hosts/guests endorse the theory that last week's episode was essentially a backdoor pilot for an Ahsoka series. It's sounding more and more like Ahsoka makes another appearance this season, as does Bo-Katan. And Mallory is of the opinion that after this season, The Mandalorian will essentially follow Mando, Bo, etc on some kind of quest to reclaim Mandalore, with Gideon standing in the way, while the potential Ahsoka series would follow her on a collision-course with Thrawn, in her effort to find Ezra (from Rebels). Which, if true/comes to fruition, sounds so awesome and absolutely perfect.
Mallory & co also seemed to agree that what we're witnessing now is THE franchise Star Wars story of the time (even if it technically diverges into two stories), to the point where they don't even want to see any post-Episode IX-set movies, while all of this is still going on. That'll definitely be interesting, if the Mando timeline of events becomes so popular that Lucasfilm just says screw it and delays anything set post-IX until this era has reached its end, even if that means Mando and Ahsoka theatrical movies in '23, '25, etc.
