...you need to know the backstory of Pango-Kwai-Tan in the great Battle of Askatan VII in order to fully appreciate the way a cameo character turns their head as an allusion to the obvious necessity of introducing Jaekwo Bal in the outer rim system of Ogulous 8, which was conquered by Darth Priapus 887 BBY.
More like SJaekWo Ball and Ass-Katan 7 amirite?

Dumb old canon question.

Have Thrawn's force repelling animals ever made an appearance when Thrawn was in the animations?

No, the Ysalamiri are not in any of the any of the animated series. The original thrawn trilogy is still a part of the EU and not Canon.

Zahn is writing a new series for Thrawn that is in line with current Canon.

I think some of the art you see him with in Rebels had animals that were supposed to be references to the ysalimiri

I think you can answer the "Who's a Jedi" question two ways:

Honest answer: nobody really thought this through in 1977.

Retcon answer: any light side wielding force user could call themselves that and be close to the original meaning, but anyone didn't complete the training before the Jedi council fell wouldn't be considered a Jedi by those guys. (Luke being the exception since Yoda trained him)

So Kanan/Ezra/Ahsoka are about as Jedi as you can be, even if the old boys club that got their ass handed to them by the emperor would disagree.

For someone who has never read any Star Wars books, can I just pick up the Thrawn trilogy and enjoy the books?

Absolutely.

I read it in middle school and was hooked.

It definitely features the original trilogy characters, but also introduces some other very interesting characters. It's a REALLY well told story with incredible character development and a lot of deep dives into the strategy of war.

Yes. They are actually the only ones I've ever read. All it takes is being familiar with the OT movies

They are essentially the OG EU books. Written in an Era where nothing new had been learned about the SW universe since the end of ROTJ.

He's also easily the best author of any of the star wars books.

Some of my favorites.

Shadows of the Empire (the time between Empire and RotJ). If you recall the N64, it featured this title. Great story.

Timothy Zahn's trilogy - Thrawn

The Jedi Academy Trilogy - Luke attempts to restart the Order.

I, Jedi - one of Luke's students, and alliance xwing pilot, has some unresolved plots with the empire

The old novels quickly turned into fan fiction level writing and I bailed out. It was a strange time.

There were worse novels in the 80s but yeah, they got widespread and out of control.

I also enjoyed the X-Wing Rogue Squadron books.

We need an Antilles cameo in this show.

Yes cal kestis is the main character from Jedi fallen order. Cal is canon and he has a second game in development. I doubt they bring him this far into the future without the 2nd game being released.
He's also a Ginger. A Ginger freaking Jedi.

Pretty sure that rules him out being a force ghost when he dies/died since Gingers have no souls.

I actually prefer the X-wing books to the Zahn books, as much as I love the Thrawn trilogy.

Wedge Antilles is a top tier EU character.

I finished Zahn's original trilogy this year. That somehow got past me back in the day. It's good; it actually gets better with each book because I found the first book a bit too amateurish.

However, Thrawn and Talon Karrde are fantastic characters that came out of that. Karrde is basically the other side of the same coin of Thrawn. Karrde has Thrawn's brilliance and tactical brain but working as a smuggler and information broker.

I just started Rebels and now kind of frustrated I didn't get it finished before this season's Mandalorian, but oh well.

Yeah, I don't worship the Thrawn trilogy like others do. I think alot of it is nostalgia and it's place in Star Wars history. The two characters I mentioned though are great.

Also, having just finished Clone Wars not too long ago I do not recall Beskar armor being able to deflect a light saber. That wasn't ever shown in the series that I recall?

I maybe recalling this incorrectly but not all mandalorian armor was made of Beskar.

True. Mandos original armor in this show wasn't. Boba Fetts wasn't.

I bet. Lucas you ol' horndog you.

He did give us no bra Leia, slave Leia, Padme, the boob slip in rotj from the dancing twileek, the female jedi twileek and mon mothma.

Sequel trilogy went out of it's way to be completely asexual.

I thought in the Old republic Mandolorians were considered Jedi Hunters? Or at least force sensitive hunters? So it would make sense that the best armor could protect somewhat against a light Saber?

Rogue One was trash and everyone refuses to admit it because they got 90 secs of Vader.
