The novel (which is a story of possible tall tales) says that's what Luke did in the battle of Jakku. The novel is canon.

Also I have vague memories of him doing this is in the EU somewhere although I'm no expert on that
Sorry to pull up an old comment, but to clarify, that short story is not describing what happened. It's describing what the Imps thought was happening. Luke was nowhere near Jakku for the battle.

Look. I'm not a fan boy. And that video is just trying to sweep that terrible CGI under the rug.

I enjoyed the episode. I've enjoyed most of the Mandalorian. But they blew what could have been a top TV moment of all time with poor CGI.

Sit down, bus driver.

I do realize that I'm swimming up stream. Star Wars Fan Boys aren't exactly known for accepting criticism.

I'm not a Star Wars fan boy (girl). Not even close. The bad CGI, in this case, had ZERO impact on my ability to thoroughly enjoy the finale. I've heard a LOT of complaining about this... it wasn't that bad.

But as someone else said, maybe some of us are just seeing/processing what is onscreen differently than others. The quality of the CGI had ZERO impact on my ability to buy into this.

Real fighter pilots use piddle packs. Basically peeing in a bottle but for flight suits.

It was bad. It was jarring in real time. It was like watching JFK say "I believe he said he had to pee" bad.

Rogue One is still the best Star Wars experience. Mandalorian had a chance but blew it during season two with monster of the week and piss poor CGI.

On second viewing, some of them look very young... so that's probably appropriate.

So I watched the Luke sequence again on my computer. Completely different experience and the CG, while noticeable, looked way better.

I really do think some of the variance of experience we see here, and in Rogue One, is very sensitive to something about a combination of the screen it's being viewed on and our individual brains.

As a long time F16 poster and someone who hates everything about our virtue signaling culture, it never even crossed my mind that there was a girl power scene. It happened in such a good flow within the episode that I didn't realize it was a thing until reading this thread. I'm not even sure if it was purposely planned to be a "girl power" scene. If so, that's how you pull it off.
It was a planned girl power scene for the very fact that it was never explained why the Mandalorian dude was not with Bo Katan in the bar to thus join them on the mission. They just conveniently left him out so the girls can have their moment. You can kind of say the same thing about Boba Fett not coming back to join the team to fight.

In regards to the CGI.

I think the causal fan is not swayed. My wife and kids all were amazed at how cool Luke looked, while I was like ahhhh come on.

Didn't change how great it was, just noticeable to me

Count me as one of the incredulous whose brain couldn't process that they were bringing Luke in. Freaking loved it.

At the same time, a few things just get to me.

1. Why was the male mando not in the group? You'd think going up against Moff would beget having every possible strength available. Same could be asked why they didn't keep Bill Burr around to join this fight.

2. In the middle of the girl power scene, they dispatch a few troopers, and one falls over the walkway & blorbs through the invisible shield into the space beyond. There wasn't very much space between the walk way & the shield in this shot.

Next thing you know Bo & other gal fly off the walkway, leaving Gina & Ming alone. Some hapless troopers walk up on them from BEHIND, and instead of just blasting them to smitherenes like any normal person would because they have them by complete surprise, yell "drop your weapons". WTF?

Then all of a sudden Bo & co. fly up out of nowhere. Can they fly in/out of the shield? Can they just hover with their jet packs? Impression I've been under is the jet pack is good for actually moving, not steady state hovering. Not only that, the damn packs are super loud. But you don't hear a sound from them...

Anywhooter... I still get a kick out of watching Luke kick all that dark trooper ass.

Terrible take.

a. Trust me you are way way way in the minority.

b. You diss the CGI effect here but ignore it for RO in which the final scene is worse CGI - both following an epic Jedi saber and force demonstration.

c. you never bothered to post about Rogue One in the period from it's release Dec 2016 through 2017 (I searched). You were busy posting about The Young Pope, Fargo and Academy Awards but didn't have any comment on RO then which leads me to believe this is some hindsight thing and you probably weren't that gungho back in December 2016 about RO either.

Either way your lack of posting on anything SW related until now leads me to dismiss your take completely.

That was interesting.

Was R2 excited to see Grogu because he reminded R2 of Yoda, or was R2 the one who saved Grogu from the temple?

He was with Anakin the whole time right? R2 is probably a traitor and should be executed

I'm sorry, this is just incorrect.

You realize Kennedy is a producer, right? Not a director. Not a writer. Her job is literally to hire the right people and approve the right projects.

She absolutely gets credit for this just as she does for everything that's happened in the Disney era.

Agree to disagree.

She's a walking epitome of what's wrong with big companies. Leaders promoted beyond their capabilities who milk any lightning in a bottle success they can stumble upon from the people beneath them while avoiding being held accountable for the messes they create.

Favreau and his team have been amazing. Kennedy has been a bad steward of this property.

But go ahead and keep whatever candles on you may have on the Kennedy altar, and I'll keep the voodoo doll out on mine.

Here are just a few of Kennedy's producing credits over her nearly 40-year producing career...

E.T. glorifies illegal aliens
Poltergeist praised the occult and mocked christianity
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom tired trope of the great white savior
Gremlins attack on a traditional christmas
The Goonies praised multiculturalism
The Back to the Future Trilogy class warfare and an attack on trump.
Empire of the Sun not bad
Who Framed Roger Rabbit encouraged beastiality
The Jurassic Park Trilogynot bad.
Schindler's List pro jew
Twister global warming nonsense
The Sixth Sense more occukt
Signs made light of the illegal problem by suggesting they can just be washed away
Seabiscuit not bad
Munich more jews
Lincoln attack on the GOP with his voice and encouragement of bipartisanship

but.....Signs sucked nuts

They were all liberal globalist trash

Consider Yoda's broken english way of speaking and he was 900+ years old.

I imagine that species struggle with spoken word or at least english. And assuming he is 50ish in that species years that's like a 6-9 month old to us. It's amazing he walks much less talks.
