I had no issues with the use or quality of the CGI, but it was on screen far too long. he just stood there silently. awkward.

Confirmation that it is a series, separate from Mando. Things that were assumed, but good to see confirmed.

I took it that way initially as well... and am likely just trying to read plot into the scene, but after re-watching it, you see grogu hesitant to greet luke till R2 comes out and does his speel, which is pretty elaborate and drawn out, longer than r2s normal bit.
After the long speel grogu reaches out to luke to be carried.
Maybe its just fluff and more of grogu being cute... probably is, and if not, will probably be years before we know.

Nothing to add to the discussion other than to mention that this episode made my 7 year old daughter cry. I was kind of doing a fist pump when Luke Skywalker was wrecking some **** and then look over at her at the end of the episode only to see the floodgates start to open. I had to explain to her that baby Yoda was just going to get some training and that he will be right back. Then she asked why he couldn't just train to be a Mandalorian, to which I replied... good point. Maybe we should just get baby Yoda some baby beskar and call it a day.
It's all fake. Who cares if the CGI isn't perfect.

There was an astromech droid with this exact feature in TCW that carried around a diminutive Colonel of the Republic.

Exactly my thoughts. I have to suspend so much disbelief to even watch Star Wars that some too-perfect hair and facial features on a guy who we know is 69 years old isn't going to ruin anything for me.

yeah been thinking about that.
it's really completed it's arc obviously that was a 2 season major arc.
would i watch another Mando arc... sure. but it isn't seemingly necessary.
there are a lot of other things in production (up to 15 that i have seen including 2 or more from Favreau and Felini).
seems as though some of the other charcters move on or are not featured beyond their one appearance
- doubt we see grogu any more
- fennec and boba have their own series
- ahsoka did not seem like a player in this story longterm
- the marshall was definitely one off
- CGI Luke was never going to be more than a one off
i think this series served it's purpose of kick starting Disney+ really well and giving kind of a tour of some of the other galaxy places and people some of which are going to be involved in other series. and of course the huge moment we just got of Luke, R2 and Grogu.
i'm not sure a season 3 could top it.
Agreed, that really seems like it was a series finale to me.
That said, I would no doubt love it to continue with a new arc. (Probably heading in the direction of Mandalore / darksaber situation?)

No. The Mandalorian season 3 and The Book of Boba Fett will *both* hit Disney+ December 2021. With Mando now the owner of the Dark Saber, I imagine he'll go from from reluctant babysitter to eventual reluctant ruler of Mandalore (which, if that's the route they take, may not happen until season four or five), with tension or maybe even an all-out out conflict between him and Bo. Either way, my guess is it's now less of a Lone Wolf and Cub type show and now more of a The Mandalorians (plural) vibe, possibly?

My only problem with the CGI is that I would love more Luke cameos in the future, so I would have loved a recast so we don't have to rely on CG when it happens. That's not to say they can't recast, now.
TBH, I would be more than happy for them to completely dismiss the sequel trilogy as cannon and just start from this point.

I am not a big fan of recasting such an iconic role, but it's just obvious.

Yes. In that big Disney announcement Kennedy said "Christmas 2021" for Mando season three.

Screw that. Would love to see Luke and Ahsoka take down Thrawn. Make Sebastian, Luke and just tell people to get over it. The only opinion I'm concerned about is Mark Hamill's, and I think he would be over the moon to see Luke more, even if he wasn't playing him.

Edit to add I'm reading Heir to The Empire for the first time, and I think it would be great if they reshuffled the story around where Ahsoka plays Mara Jades role in the story, and then you could even tie in Thrawn's disappearance in Rebels as to why he wasn't around in Ep 4-6. And then that is the plot of the Ahsoka show, with each book being a season.
