Because starting this coming Saturday, we win and we advance to the following week. Then we need to beat Auburn to "survive and advance". Then t.u.

If we lose any of the three games upcoming, then we are likely done as far as playoffs are concerned.

If we win the next three, the SEC Championship Game is the ONLY game that likely allows another "mulligan" with probable CFP game to follow regardless of result.

New Mexico State doesn't matter if we win the SEC title game and get the only automatic bid available to the 12 team playoffs. Beat Auburn and tu and we are playing somebody in the SEC title game at 7-1. Either 7-1 Tenn or one of the various 6-2 teams tied for second.

This is actually a good way to think about it (after I read your post a couple of times.) If you think about NM State as the first round of the playoff, then yes: every game on the remainder of our schedule is a game that, if won, advances you, and if lost, eliminates you.

You're right. But I'd rather beat the."other Aggies" and then the next two opponents- making the SEC Championship Game one thar we COULD afford to lose and still likely make the "real" playoffs.

But, yeah, get to the game (meaning beating Auburn and tu) and win it - and clearly we are in with a first round bye.

For the record- I think Georgia beats Tennessee and that Bama will end up being our opponent in the SEC Championship Game.
