I live near the foothills in Colorado and see them quite regularly while mountain biking. I've had a few people tell me they have had their bikes struck at too, but never this, lol. Cool pic
Wow.. For the experts. Why is the big one so much more orange? More mature?Daddy-O5 said:

Cottonmouth? I saw the head and smelled a musk when I got close so I was 90% sure it was. Just hoping I didn't kill some sort of water snake

Saw this one the other day from a bike team facebook page. No idea the original source, but the story is the snake struck at the bike as it was riding by and got wrapped into the rear derailleur.
I think that one was riding on the dirt. Will probably only ride on the road (in the middle of the lane) from now on, just to be safe.cheeky said:One more bike off the roadtxags92 said:

Posting as option for the unofficial beer of the snake thread. Will update as to how it tastes.

Did it have a rattle?
Does the "red and yella kill a fella" rhyme fit with the colors of this snake?
Did it have the unique and pretty markings of a copperhead?
Is it dark and has the mascara among the eyes that gets discussed daily on this board that tells you it might be a cottonmouth?
No?

Honest question, not trying to pile on. Did you see bite marks on your dog's face or any signs of pain or distress? Or saw it strike and killed it out of sheer reaction? I've never been in the situation so I can't say how I'd handle it.
