Yep. I started reading this thread last year and got pretty good at identifying Texas snakes. Before that, I would pretty much call any dark snake near water a cotton mouth, most of which I'm sure were water snakes. The next step was joining the Texas Snake ID Facebook group. Both of my neighbors have seen a six foot rat snake, or so I've ID'd. There aren't that many six foot snakes around, racers, etc., but even though I haven't seen him, I've nearly adopted him by telling the neighbors to let him be. I've got a huge creek in the back yard, so I'm certain this snake won't be far away. Everything else is back there.ttha_aggie_09 said:
