Question for you guys that pick up snakes. Are there certain ones that you know probably won't bite you? Or do you just try to be careful and not really care if they do (just talking about the non-venomous ones obviously)? I see some pics of you guys holding them behind the head as if you probably pissed them off and other pics look like the snake is relatively okay with being held.

There's a few species that almost never bite, like rough green snakes, indigos, and hognose. Some are iffy like racers, ribbon snakes, and ratsnakes. Some are guaranteed biters like water snakes.

12f for the win...

I would add coachwhips to the guaranteed biters. Brown snakes, rough earth snakes, blind snakes, flat headed snakes and ring necked snakes to the almost never biters

Hiked 25+ miles over 4 days and finally saw this little guy. I cheated and asked a park ranger. Ground snake, Sedona, about 4-5 inches long.

I've been to the south rim several times and this was the first time to the north. It's a PITA to get to but we found the canyon views to be much more spectacular. Not to mention the fact there was almost no one there.

Had a neighbor yell for me today because he saw a snake in his front flowerbed.
Went over and it was a coachwhip that slid into a hole under his driveway. Looked around a bit and found this shed close by.

1st Up - Texas Rat Snake


That's Clint the snake man. Highly recommend for parties, office presentations, talks, etc. He's a great dude.
My kids went to a birthday party last weekend with the Snake Man. Great experience for them. I was in charge of the ball python and putting it on the kids' shoulders. Only a couple got strangled.
