Extremely low. My guess it's only 18" deep now. Normal would be around 4'.

Little backyard ribbon snake this morning...
Great Plains? rat snake doing rat snake things on my back porch.
Place I stayed for a conference recently had some snakes and a Gila in the lobby.
California gopher snake. He was beautiful.

Then there was this fella.
This one stayed hidden a lot. They had him listed as a California King but he looks different than the photo they had of a California King that was on the outside of the enclosure.
Pretty sure that's just a regular old rat, Western rat, snake
I know the gophers and bull snakes are extremely similar, but I am curious the differences aside from geograpy, if there is any? (Question fir 12fmane)
Family came home from a trip tonight and all four of us stepped over this juvenile copperhead. On my second trip with bags I recognized it.
