"Texas sheriff's deputy shoots a rattlesnake while investigating a stolen
Bee County Sheriff Deputy Sgt. Rick Villarreal was following the footsteps that led away from a stolen vehicle abandoned at a cemetery in rural South Texas when he spotted a rattlesnake.
Villarreal could hear the snake's rattle and noticed it lifted into a striking stance. Villarreal then upholstered his handgun, aimed and pulled the trigger.
"One shot and the snake was down," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post on Monday.
Included in the post was a photo of the bloody snake with Villarreal posing nearby and a message urging residents to be mindful of venomous slithering serpents.
The article isn't full of detail but shame the office didn't just back away…
