Eagles lose. Statistically, a 2 game lead in the East after 3 games was the largest possible lead we could have.. and that's exactly what we have. Fantastic!

Same ol' Buccaneers. Missed chip shot FG to win the game vs Giants.

Anyone watching the sunday night game? Didn't realize they're doing a Mount Rushmore for each team this year. Lots of people to choose from for Dallas. I would say Landry and Emmitt are no brainers. Then there's a battle for the last 2 spots- Staubach, Aikman, Tex Schram, Witten, Bob Lilly. Argument could be made for Jerry too. Gonna be tough to pick 4.

We got spoiled with Dan Bailey. He couldn't kick it beyond 55 yards but dude was automatic. Barely Brett is going to cost us a game this season.

Landry, Staubach, and Lilly are my lead pipe cinch guys.

I'd pick Larry Allen, just barely over Randy White to complete my list.

Yes, the NFL all time leading rusher is 6th on my list. But NBC will probably pick Emmitt Smith.

Still concerned about the DL. They've played 3 pretty terrible lines and have struggled to create pressure. I was impressed with the rook Hill, he was disruptive. It was nice to see more stunts in the 2nd half. Hoping rod is holding back on some blitzes. With the talent in the secondary and LB, I believe we should blitz more against better offenses. Also, Chido always seems to be in perfect coverage yet can never quite make the play. A little concerned about him.

Lawrence had a sack today but he has been a bit of a let down so far this year. The DL is simply not getting enough pressure. Right now this is really the only area that has me concerned on how far they can go

Emmitt Smith and Bob Lilly are the two best players, but leaving off Staubach or Larry Allen seems criminal.

I don't see how they keep Landry off.

And if you put aside personal animosity, Jerry really should be on the mountainside. good or bad, he's one of most influential owners in history of the sport and is synonymous with "Dallas Cowboys"

Regarding the line, we've also played 3 teams that were hell bent on throwing the ball quickly. But I agree lack of pass rush is troubling.

I think my biggest frustration with the D is the almost plays. We've had at least a sack per game lost because we can't hold on to a non athletic QB. We've dropped easy picks and on multiple occassion had balls bounce way up in the air with no defender anywhere near it.

Maybe it's just bad luck, but this D needs to figure it out before next weeks game.

The Cows had 3 monster figures so influential for the league and team that never even got on the field. Any 3 would probably make mount Rushmores for a few other teams.

Landry
Schramm
Brandt

If I absolutely had to pick I'd go Landry, Lilly, Staubach, E Smith.

People's ages and eras would obviously influence this list a lot. A kid growing up today may leave a couple of those names out .

.

We've lacked the ability to generate turnovers for so long that it might be scheme instead of personnel.

Do we have room for Quincy Carter on Mt. Rushmore?

Well, if he wasn't a grade A moron he would not have gotten cut and we would have seen Romo tear up the league in a different uniform.

This week's game is going to be very interesting... Did not think NO was gonna beat Seattle on the road like that. The Saints aren't gonna be pushovers without Brees.

Does Witten not make it because he never won a SB? He has had the most consistent superb play for his tenure than any other Cowboy IMO. He has been a stalwart for 16 years which is incredible

Witten doesnt make it because he isnt close to a top 4 most important/influential person in franchise history.

I think Dallas will win. I think having a week to see what NO is trying to do diff w/ Bridgewater will be a big plus. Also, didn't NO have like two non-offensive TDs...Doubt that will happen for them two weeks in a row.

NO will certainly be better than anything Dallas has seen, so far, but I think DAllas rolls.

I also think Seattle has major flaws.

One thing that is certain. NO will be by far the best defense the Cowboys have played so far.

NFL is so week-to-week that it's hard to judge any team based on how they played somebody else... especially early in the season.

Seattle doesn't have a championship caliber team, but they aren't a bad team either. Beating them on the road with a backup QB says something about the Saints.

But, right now, we are better than we were last year when we beat them. We can and should win (especially with no Brees), but it's definitely gonna be a fight! Might be an important game thinking ahead to playoff positioning.

No it's simply accurate. There is a long history with decades of success including 5 super bowls and he played in one of the worst stretches (in terms of post season success) of team history. 25 yrs of doo doo.
Truth be told he would be lucky to make the top 20 of most influential cowboys, especially if head coaches and guys like schramm and jerrah are included (ie, not limited to just players).

Depends on what you consider "close". I think you can pretty easily get through 10 or 12 names before Witten is even in the conversation.
