I obviously understand that, which I why I said that. I was responding to posters that are under the impression gas is going to drop on Monday morning.

Gas will not. But VZ will impact oil prices Monday morning.

General optimism over the announcement will ensure that. Though the dredging near Oman likely has the larger impact.

Oil opened up about 2% this morning. Great call.

Sorry, I hadn't yet factored in Iran's desperation of strapping sea mines to rockets then getting frustrated when their plans are blown up and trying to kill US soldiers.

Yet despite renewed hostilities for the first time in weeks it opened 2% higher and you think it's a… gotchya?

Team America is winning, so I am happy regardless.

Are you saying without the VZ news oil would have gone even higher due to the out of control and pointless war Trump started? That's a great point.

So, when I finally pass a gas station in South San Antonio, it'll be less than $3?

All this bull**** about crude prices, Iran and Venezuela, etc means exactly nothing to the price on the big price display at the gas station right now.

99% of the populace could have given a **** about Iran before we started this "war". Less do, now, other than possibly worrying about their family members that are currently active duty.

The OP still stands to be incorrect, months and months later.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Plunder and pillage the oil. Lift them up but keep them as serfs. Iran will never do this so we'll just have to steal it from them and continue to subjugate them until they will.

Choke off China.

yes things were better for Venezuela before Trump good point.

I was being serious.

Being serfs to the US in a joint venture is way better than being perpetual serfs to a communist regime and also proxies of China.

There is no telling how many times people checked this thread think oh so NOW it's true !

I'm off work, recuperating from surgery last Thursday. Went out by myself for first time in a few days..... went up to $3.799. Was $3.499 yesterday when a friend drove me to the store for my Rx.

Filled up my ride: $50.

Some of the recent commentary by Republicans is along the lines of while the economy may suck but the Democrat Communists would make it worse! That's the message to win votes, the other party would just do worse!

So ridiculous!

What republicans are saying "the economy may suck"? Because they would be a) lying; and b) not a republican.

Perhaps you saw a supposed R commentator on MSNOW say this?

Seems to be a pretty common sentiment here by the usual suspects.

At this point I am not even sure it would be true. If Kamala simply did nothing the economy would be better off. Senile old Biden had gas prices lower than Trump and he was literally asleep.

People forget what prices were like when Trump took office.

Price for a barrel of oil, 2/1/2025: ~$70
National average gas price, 2/1/2025: $3.12
Inflation, 2/1/2025: 2.8%

Prices were much better ~17 months ago than they are now.

how much longer? since you posted this two months ago, the average pump price in texas has increased to 40% above pre-iran war levels

So things under Trump now are worse than when Biden left office and Trump took over?

So much for "so much winning!"

Maybe just two more weeks, or maybe four to six more? Mañana at the latest.

Several million less folks filling up their tanks, competing for groceries, competing for jobs, competing for housing.

I'd call that winning.

The only place that has arguably shown up is in housing (you could make a strong argument that interest rates are causing the fall in housing prices, but that's a separate discussion).

You remove 1 percent of consumers from the US and it has no impact? Because importing 5 percent caused quite a hit across the board, not just housing.

Got any market proof of it besides guessing? Because it hasn't shown up yet. Maybe it eventually will, but as we sit today, it hasn't.

Common sense.

How exactly do you want to extrapolate out the purchasing power of undocumented folks paying mostly in cash who have now deported officially or unofficially?

At some point layering estimates, assumptions and guesses is not something I need someone else or AI to do for me, it's common sense.

But the laws of supply and demand and its effect on prices are undefeated. So again, common sense.
HTownAg98
How long do you want to ignore this user?
So, none.
What does paying in cash have to do with anything? The grocery store will take your money if you pay in cash or credit card; it's all mostly the same to them less the cc processing fees. To them it is dollars in their pocket.
Theoretically, we should be seeing lower prices if fewer people are here. But that has not materialized in any of the market data. The other reason is that inflation has been wiping that out whatever reduction we should be seeing. So in real dollars, yes, prices have been coming down. But people don't pay for stuff in real dollars.

If you are upset about gas prices, you either have raging TDS or you don't understand how short term pain translates to long term safety. I guess everyone here is cool with Iran launching nukes at major Israeli and US cities and military infrastructure. President Trump made the right choice striking Iran and it's not even close.

If you want to see how folks "understand", try making "fuel surcharge" a line item on a quote instead of hiding it in the price. Let me know how that goes.
