The scale of the program by Wright is unique particularly in not using permanent sales as Biden did which left the reserves further depleted.
Not sure what your ongoing issue is. Wright, who works for Trump, deployed a tool that is indeed often used by the DoE, but that was not used by the prior administration in their response to the Ukraine conflict.
Pointing that out is somehow… wrong? Again, weird takes bro.Quote:
Scale: The 2026 program is far larger (targeting ~172 million barrels via multiple exchange solicitations) than typical prior exchanges or Biden's 32-million-barrel competitive exchange.
Your twisting yourself. You compared Biden swap to the current swap. Those are your/your AI's words and what I was responding too. They are the exact same programs and not unique.Quote:

I guess I'll post the SPR chart again for you,
Further further depleted and still going. So.Quote:

Lol, facts are so "weird". Have a great rest of your day.Quote:
And its been posted before, by me, that Trump required any draw on the SPR be "repaid" by the take with 1.2 of what is taken. This replaces the reserve plus 20% at zero cost to the taxpayer.
As typical, Trump works for the US taxpayer.
For everyone else, this is where we started. The current DoE swap auctions are not unique, premiums are in-line with historic terms (thanks to FTC's AI summary!), barrel replacement + premium will happen sometime next year, SPR is the 2nd lowest it's ever been and SPR will continue to decline for the foreseeable future; or the admin will face higher $/barrel or need resolve the Straight issue. Those are just the facts.
Oh yeah, and national pump price is $4.10 today and Iran has still not capitulated. Everyone have a great day!
Sorry, facts are not weird, just your take and poor understanding thereof.
Fact: In March 2022, Biden authorized the release of 180 million barrels over roughly six months (about 1 million barrels per day). These were competitive public sales of oil to the highest bidders. Proceeds went to the Treasury. The average sale price was around $95 per barrel. This was the biggest emergency drawdown in SPR history.
It is you comparing that Biden 32-million-barrel swaps and IGNORING the 180 million fire sale with no means, plans, promises or actions to replenish.
That's why your cute little chart appears the way it does. Glad to have cleared this up for you and the 6 others who starred your misinformation.

Eliminate the debt limit—its only real function is to threaten an economic crisis.
I'm ready to work with both Democratic and Republican Senators to immediately scrap the debt ceiling and protect the economy.

US, which saw crude exports surge past 6 million b/d in May, does not have the crude oil inventory to help supply the rest of the world.
— HFI Research (@HFI_Research) July 31, 2026
A lot of the commercial crude inventory buffers elsewhere that were turned into exports are gone.
Zip, nada, zero.
So what we are now… https://t.co/H3BB8hyXoj
Quote:
Oil prices extended declines Friday as signs of a recovery in crude flows through the Strait of Hormuz eased supply concerns, after a resumption of hostilities between U.S. and Iran had sent them higher.
West Texas Intermediate futures for September delivery dropped 1.6% to $82.27. Brent crude futures, the international benchmark, fell by 1.4%% to $87.78 a barrel.
Commonwealth Bank of Australia said in a note on Friday that stronger oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz had eased market concerns after U.S.-Iran strikes earlier this week briefly pushed Brent above $93 a barrel.
The bank estimates traffic through the vital waterway has recovered to roughly 30%-35% of pre-war levels, adding that a rebound to around 50%-60% of normal flows could be enough to reassert oversupply conditions in the global oil market.

Diesel is over $7.70/gallon in Kiev right now, speaking of winning. In the UK, it's almost $8.50.

As far as I know, the SOH is still effectively closed and tankers are not going through. I understand that roughly 25% of the world oil production used to go through SOH.
How can oil prices be in the 80s? I'm just a rube, but it doesn't make sense.

No one is disputing that. The concerned moderate who started this thread was bragging about how gas prices were down. Call him out

Gas prices won't impact the midterms. The LOLPoors complaining are locked in democrat voters.
if you live in america, which i presume is the case for the overwhelming majority of people who post here, the impact of the iran war on pump prices dwarfs the impact of ukraine's strikes against russia energy infrastructure.nortex97 said:
Well that's just not accurate, respectfully. The SoH traffic is back to around 40-45 percent of what it was pre-war. The claims and denunciations of 'gas prices are too high!' Are hysterical precisely because it's the same set of folks in general who support a war to strike oil/gas transit/production systems otherwise, but want to celebrate the escalations as bad for "Trump/GOP" otherwise.
