We appreciate you "not getting into all that" as the tired silly narrative have been shot down so many times.

Perhaps move onto a new cool theory you learned in X.

Trump was "put into power" because despite his falls from his first administration, the people saw the alternative was a complete disaster. Thus, he was elected, overwhelmingly by the people's vote

I 100% agree with this. He was the lesser of two evils.

Kind of like Sowell being the lesser evil of Karl Marx.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

That being said, adjusted for inflation, gas is way cheaper than it was in summer 2008. It is also still cheaper than it was in most of 2010 through 2012.

The irony is that the Democrats are the ones who have long championed high gas prices, yet now 'for some reason' lament that the prices aren't lower. It was Patron Saint Sotero himself who said he wanted the price of energy to necessarily skyrocket, he just wanted it to be gradual.

For those who want to pay more, they could emigrate to DEI open borders paradise of TDS France, where the price for a gallon is presently pushing $9/gallon. Denmark is even higher. But don't worry, the French won't consider cutting their petrol VAT taxes as that would harm their planet saving initiatives.

Yeah you kind of paint yourself into a corner when you announce that continued use of something necessary for daily life will definitively result in the death and destruction of the world. I feel for the regular French/dutch/scandi/etc person who is just trying to get to work and doesn't give a **** about politics.

I have a Dutch friend who owns a truck dealership and attended a family party of his last year in a semi rural part of the Netherlands. It was fascinating to hear his friends and employees talk about how badly they want to even visit the US, not to mention actually live here. There are a lot of people who don't agree with the policies of these places but who don't have the means to fight it or move abroad. It sucks.

The sane Euro's, in a similar vein to what is the case on our continent, are largely governed/ruled by people their large metropolitan centers elect/vote for. But I think it is worse there as their largely parliamentary systems allow for more 'alliances' a la Germany where minor leftist parties gain more power long term, and then it takes a lot longer to steer away from the leftist course.

Anyway, oil bulls are having a minor run but I think it is over-sold right now as a 'big deal'.

Then you'll be thrilled to know it jumped up twenty cents from yesterday to $3.79

Well diesel just went up 40 cents from a few days ago. It's now $4.79 a gallon. Doesn't look like this is getting better anytime soon.

That's the price in Lubbock. The lines at Costco were longer than usual, probably folks filling up before their (Costco) prices went up, I'd imagine.

Pre war oil was at $60. So even if the refining spread goes back to pre-war levels, the price of gasoline is necessarily higher if crude is up 30%+ (as it is right now). Sure it's not as bad as it could be if the strait had stayed closed but we are still worse off as consumers and no one can even agree what the goals of the war are, much less of they have been met.

Also, the strait is mostly if not entirely closed right now. Alternate paths to market have grown but a prolonged SoH closure will cause prices to rise.

As usual, you are missing the point, my friend.

The OP clearly started the thread to gloat about how gas was coming down. It isn't. And that's OK.

I'm quite sure we could of had lower fuel prices with a Republican president

Dems usually lead to higher energy prices, but now we have a Republican doing that too. What a win for America! So much winning!!!

RBOB is around $3.40 highest level since end of May. It increased about 15% this week. Ukraine is taking a lot of Russian production offline and SOH is closing again.

Refining stocks have had a nice couple weeks. This needs to resolve soon. The war started with huge inventory and things appeared to open up again as we were reaching critical levels. We're still near critical levels.
