It had gone down to $2.989 then....BAM!.....shot up through the day and I saw it up after work at about 0230. WITH oil decreasing in price, per barrel.

This is the type of **** that makes people lash out at "Big Oil".

First of all, Big oil doesn't set the price at the pump.

Maybe you need to start going to a different gas station.

I was paying $4.89 per gallon for diesel 3 weeks ago. I filled up for $3.83 today.

And today alone, I've driven from Houston to Memphis Tennessee and the prices are consistently lower everywhere.

With our resources and global power, a gallon of gas should never be more than $2 anywhere in the US.

This is the same ideology applied by Big Pharma selling drugs for cheap in Africa or Mexico.

It costs what it costs and the greed has to stop. OR R&D expenses should apply across the board.

This is where capitalism can be flawed.

Its would be a win for the country, but the people are too stupid to realize it.

Its not greed, its a market and the price is based on supply and demand.

Old MAGA - Biden did this stickers placed on gas pumps, gas prices if high wreck the economy and hurt the hard working tax payers.

New MAGA- High prices have been and are a worthy sacrifice. They don't have much effect on the economy. If you have high gas prices in your area move to a better place.

CL=F ticking around $68.9, WTI August around $68.76. I think this weekend is the peak of summer driving season, mostly.

Moderately related, unshackled by Opec limits the UAE is going to massively expand operations the next few years, direct to asian buyers etc.
Quote:

Following its historic departure from OPEC, the UAE is projected to increase its total oil output to 5.0 million barrels per day (bpd) in 2027, marking an immediate year-on-year supply increase of 730,000 bpd. Free of previous OPEC caps that restricted actual crude production to roughly 3.2-3.5 million bpd, the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts total oil output (including crude, condensates, and natural gas liquids) will top 5.2 million bpd next year.

To achieve these targets, ADNOC will leverage billions in capital investments to drive a massive expansion strategy, including a $150 billion capital expenditure program for 2026-2030 as well as an additional Dh200 billion local project pipeline to boost daily production capacity, enhance export infrastructure like the new West-East pipeline to double export capacity through the vital shipping hub of Fujairah and expand global operations.

I still think gas is likely around $2.50-2.70 by November (of course not in CA/NY, but in Texas in any case), but we might be under $2.00 by 2028 election season.

I nearly booked a trip to renew my sons passport in DC so he could get a Trump one.

Californians are crazy. Not breaking news, of course, but funny none the less.
Quote:

  • California's gas tax will rise to 63.4 cents per gallon on July 1.
  • State taxes and fees add roughly $1.20 to every gallon sold.
  • Gas tax revenue is growing harder to sustain as fuel consumption declines.
The cost of living is getting higher and higher all the time, but in California, things are on a different level. Residents there are about to get another reminder of that starting on July 1. That's when the state's gasoline excise tax will increase by 2.2 cents per gallon, bringing the total to 63.4 cents per gallon, the highest state-level gas tax in the nation.

That's notable enough on its own, but the bigger story is how quickly the tax has grown. Less than a decade ago, California's gas tax stood at 27.8 cents per gallon. Now it's more than double that figure, and the increases are built into law.

A Tax That Raises Itself

The latest adjustment stems from Senate Bill 1, a 2017 transportation funding package that automatically raises fuel taxes each year. Republican lawmakers have seized on the increase as evidence that Sacramento is making life more expensive for drivers, while supporters argue the money is needed to maintain roads, bridges, and transportation infrastructure.

Of course, as Contra Costa News points out, the gas tax is only one piece of the puzzle. California motorists also pay state and local sales taxes on fuel, cap-and-trade costs, Low Carbon Fuel Standard compliance costs, and underground storage tank fees. Depending on how those costs are calculated, state taxes, fees, and mandates add roughly $1.20 to every gallon sold.

US mandates special blends based on season for same reason, though I am sure you absolutely know that. Assume Canadians have extra special requirements in addition to ours.

I did enjoy the Mobil in Centennial, CO today that failed to shut off automatically when refueling. I put a good 2 or 3 gallons on the ground. Felt like money well spent!

Below is a link to a website tracking gasoline prices nationwide. Please scroll down to the inflation adjusted prices. Compare the disastrous Obama and Biden years to Trump's first term and now his second term.
Monthly U.S. Gasoline Prices | Historical Chart | Data | 1990-2026
You may notice the peaks under the POS Obama and Biden years was higher than under Trump.
From 2008 through most of 2015 under Obama the prices, when adjusted for inflation were clownshow high. There was a brief drop from Nov 2008-May 2009, but overall bat crap high.

There was a lull during Trump's 1st term then under brain impaired Biden they peaked @ $5.50 in June 2022. I seem to remember the backlash& Biden stickers. So the lame ass Democrats emptied our strategic reserves endangering National security instead of easing regs and opening exploration.

Then in April 2025 prices ratchet down until the bat crap insane mullahs threaten nuclear holocaust.

please note that even then highest prices caused by the insane radical Islamic terrists is still lower than the highest under those POS Democratic Presidents.
