First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.

Brilliant, Gina.
What about the non Jews who died in camps? Her point is correct

Hollywood is all for inclusivity..... as long as you agree with them. But God forbid you have a valid point from the other side.

I'll be the last one to defend her acting ability and had no real desire to see her supposed spin off series. She has no business being anything but a sidekick at best. However, this is yet another example of cancel culture and double standards by the left.

****ing politics ruin everything. Outside of Aggie football I've watched almost zero sports since the spring, even then I had to remind myself that it was idiot 20 year olds that marched on Sully. Now it's invading Star Wars. Why do people have to inject politics into EVERYTHING?? It's so hard to escape it these days. People pushing the cancel culture are the lowest scumbags on the planet. Why can't these people just ignore someone that doesn't agree with them? Most of us do it everyday. Is their life that worthless and pathetic?

With Katee Sackhoff, Rosario Dawson, Ming-Na Wen,and Sasha Bank all kicking huge ass and making legions of fans in Season 2 of Mando, Gina Carano becomes expendable. Disney sees the bottom line being possibly upset of their hottest streaming property and says "Why bother defending this?"

I have no problem with Gina's freedom of speech nor with her performance on Mando. My wife and my daughters all liked her, and I really liked her being a very different sort of Alderaanian than we saw in Leia and Bail Organa. But it's super easy to veer away from her character. She had a few scenes in 3 episodes out of 8. It's not like she's central to the plot moving forward.

Saw a very tiny handful of miserable nobodies on twitter earlier today around 2 pm trying to get #FireGinaCarano trending and tagging Disney and Lucasfilm.

I hope these born losers have now found some sense of fulfillment in their pathetic existences.
They haven't. They'll all be onto some other crusade tomorrow
Ain't that the truth.

This is true.
I would suggest if you want to have a career in Hollywood, you probably shouldn't go around being publicly FOR the things Hollywood is against.

She did suck as an actress. They should re-cast the Mando too.

She was great as her character in the show. And became a legit "star" from it in the mainstream.

But she knew that her social media posts were catching heat months ago, and still decided to keep pushing it. You can't feel that bad for her losing her gig when she totally chose to put it at risk.

It sucks, but she only has herself to blame.

This is pretty disappointing. Disney has made it abundantly clear your politics can be your own and don't represent the company. Gaslighting her comments as "anti-semetic" when you're literally proving her point is quite the approach.

This is the battered spouse mindset. Don't burn dinner and you won't take a beating. She only has herself to blame

She's not the problem. At some point maybe people can realize that a difference of opinion does not require ruining someone's livelihood.

I understand what you're saying, but she definitely chose to continue posting and retweeting things to get a reaction, and often engaged with fans who reacted, often getting into back and forth arguments. She was playing with fire and had to know that.

I didn't care for how she generally acted, but also don't like that she got canned for it. That said, she can't really play the victim here imho.

But there's a difference in getting fired for posting "stupid" stuff and getting fired for posting anti-Semitic tweets.

Lots of articles running with she posted "anti-Semitic tweets" which is why I came here...

Marginalizing the Jewish treatment at the hands of Germans and Nazi's, somewhat; but anti-Semitic, no way.

Losing a job over this is horse ***** Sorry, it just is. If you want to cower in a corner afraid to open your mouth because you might have something to say that people would disagree with, have at it. Or more accurately, having what you say being stretched into something you didn't actually say because they don't like your politics. I'm not good with that becoming the norm. Losing a job over what she posted is a joke. People need to push back on this kind of thing. It's dangerous

No it's not. Disney is in the market for maintaining their public image. She continued to post things that harmed their public image. So they dealt with it. It's the same way you'd be treated at literally any other company if you continued to bring bad press to them. See: Papa John.

You can display your politics in a way that's not inflammatory or designed to draw emotional reactions from the other side. She chose not to, repeatedly, and now she faces the consequences.

Gina gave Disney an excuse to move on from her terrible acting. Have no idea how she was cast or how someone didn't do a screen test and decide to get somebody who wasn't terrible at acting in that role.

Politics aside, the show will be better after this.

Do you even watch the show? Don't recall you participating in any discussion here before.

And like I said, it was inflammatory whether you consider it anti-Semitic or not. She has posted inflammatory things in the past. It's a pattern of behavior that does damage to the brand, and that leads to people getting fired. But I'm sure you're perfectly fine with the government telling private businesses what to do.

Really????

Plenty of artists say inflammatory things against Conservatives - nothing ever happens to them really.

I mean the worst was probably Kathy Griffin - and she went on a world tour after her Trump decapitation photo. It was called "Laugh Your Head Off World Tour"

I can give you a long list of Conservative celebs that have been fired, banned or black balled if you like. Many for things that are not even very controversial.

Libs not so much.

Being canceled for comparing cancel culture to 1930s Germany is pretty special.

She got the part because she is 1 attractive, 2 fits the very unique body type (like Lucy Lawless back in the day), 3 can somewhat act. In that order.
Fenrir
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Did anyone even mention government action or is that just a straw man?

Her character is utterly replaceable so it is what it is, but there is a clear double standard considering what Pablo has said was swept under the rug. And that's just the most obvious example, I'm sure plenty of other Disney actors have said inflamatory things that get overlooked.

lol.

The tweet was in January 2019.

The film was released in November 2019 and was a major studio film and he was Executive Producer.

And not a total shock that he has no credits in 2020 - 90% of the industry went dormant.

Pretty much his entire career he has films every other year: 2019 2017 2015 2013 2011

We'll see.
