I'm guessing Timber Rattler? Aren't they usually lighter?

It's a timber rattler. The ones I've seen up there all seem to be black phase although they have some pics in their cabin of the yellow phase ones too.
The jet black head and eyes is just a wicked look.

Totally. Other than maybe the Eastern Diamondback with those stripes that look like war paint, that's the most badass snake I've seen. Oh and maybe the gnarly Gaboon Viper.

Dang, that brush cover is scary. At least in West or South Texas when a nope rope is under a *****ly pear, it is pretty clear around it so you can take a peek before retrieving your shotgun shell.
Need a snake ID if possible. Here in DFW. Was pretty long, like 6 ft, by the time I grabbed a pole to trap it, it had gone into the bushes. Couldn't see the head well enough to tell if triangular or oval.
Pattern you can sort of make out was consistent across body, no bands I could see. Couldn't get a look at underside.

Somewhat off topic but wife found this cute critter in our garage. She wanted me to come home and dispatch it and was not happy with my "just shoo it out of the garage with a broom" response.

Have been on this thread for 5 years or so and thought I knew quite a bit about snakes...until I just saw the two distinct dots on top of this guys head. What are those?

Not sure if they have a reason other than camouflage? I've never read an explanation for them, but most copperheads seem to have them.

That's where they like to be petted!
Sent to me by my dad in Bosque county. Camouflage makes him a little hard to see
