Whoa, it doesn't try to slither away? We've had our corn snake going on 5 years and we've never let it out of the tank or our hands. I've always assumed it would try to peace-out, and I'd wake up a year later with it curled up on my face.

Yeah he try's to slither away, he's just not very fast. We lost him for about an hour once. I've had other snakes disappear for a day or two before I find them somewhere in the bedroom.

No DBWS, but thought this was a cool pic of the small 'lake' they live in. Water was like glass earlier this week and made a excellent reflecting pond before the wind picked up.

You got it, although the garter is an eastern garter from Victoria. Also that second copperhead is from a somewhat unique population, appearance-wise, from the northern Columbia Bottomlands

A friend did, I just photographed it. I haven't found one in Victoria so it was quite a shock. It was right along the river too, which is really not their typical habitat. Cool stuff.

Kids were playing in the backyard and found a snake shed. So as we were carefully pulling it out of the grass and fence low and behold the snake was right there in the grass.

Looks like it. It's apparently pretty dangerous and hates kids.
Our corn snake has been the easiest pet ever. It's pretty nice to be able to leave for a couple weeks and not worry about it.
One thing to remember is they live 20+ years.

Ok, we usually don't have pets on here, but since it's a slow period and I have a question, I am going to jump in with this. This is our new family pet. I know what he was sold to us as (not saying so I don't bias your opinions), but I feel like it is something slightly different. Can anyone on here 100% ID this guy? He's about a year old, around 2.5 ft.

This is my thought as well. They sold it to me as a speckled kingsnake, but it doesn't have the speckles on the large majority of scales, and just looks way more like a desert. I am thinking maybe it's a desert mixed with something.
