A Fulton County judge has just ruled AGAINST Fani Willis in a lawsuit brought against her by Ashleigh Merchant, a lawyer for one of Trump's co-defendants for hiding evidence about her relationship with Nathan Wade

The judge DENIED her motion to dismiss the Open Records Case and has ordered an evidentiary hearing in two weeks to discover all the documents Willis has been hiding.

The past 72 hours have not been pretty for Fani. Her daughter got arrested, and the whole world saw her show up at the scene with Nathan Wade, who she claimed she was no longer in a relationship with, meaning she perjured herself in court.
Have I mentioned recently I am really a fan of Ashleigh Merchant? She is a pit bull going after that awful witch Fani. Hope she gets the goods soon, holds a presser and manages to get Fani defeated in the election. (However unlikely that would be. Her predecessor as Fulton County DA Paul Howard was a Black guy, corrupt as hell and held that office for over twenty years.)

That's a surprise. Thought McAfee was waiting for the court of appeals?

This motion was brought by two defendants who aren't parties to the appeal.

A Georgia judge dismissed two counts Thursday against former President Donald Trump in the Georgia 2020 election interference case.
Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee said the two counts fall under federal jurisdiction. Both counts deal with conspiracy and filing false documents. Five counts of the original indictment against Trump have now been dismissed. Three were dropped earlier this year by Judge McAfee, who ruled that the charges lacked detail. Trump now faces eight remaining counts in the case, out of the original 13.
Trump's lawyers said in a statement, "President Trump and his legal team in Georgia have prevailed once again."

The proceedings in the Trump case have been temporarily halted since June, while the Georgia Court of Appeals reviews McAfee's ruling allowing Willis to continue prosecuting the case.

So is Fani.

Fulton County's entire DA office is...uhm...incompetent.

I'll leave it at that.

Wade also he he couldn't recall, did not know any of the details of those WH meeting, not even whether they were in person, over the phone or via zoom.

Very evasive.

Tea leaves say this means the case likely going bye-bye soon.

Yep, Ashleigh Merchant really did a number on Fanni Willis. Fanni still easily won reelection because Fulton County is 65% Dem.

Part of what I find challenging in these cases is the slow grind. When months pass between major updates I've forgotten 80% of the pertinent details and 90% of the gossip. It's like finding a lost puzzle piece after having put the puzzle back in the box.

Or, they're about to kick it back to the judge as an improvidently granted appeal (the DA filed a motion on that a few months ago) and the case is going to start moving forward again for the not-President-or-Georgia-legislator-in-session defendants.

Or they want to send it back to allow the judge to sort out how to proceed more generally now that the case involves a President-elect. (He'll sever Trump off, deciding whether it needs to dismissed as to him or just put in abeyance, and proceed with the rest.)

Or they decided they just don't need oral argument to decide, one way or the other.

Lots of possible directions it can go from here.

Oh also I'm not sure if it was reported in this thread, but the Supreme Court declined to review Mark Meadows effort to get his case removed to federal court so his case will remain in state court.
