This sure is a nice distraction for CMs from Brandon's dumpster fire administration.

It's all they've got and it's soon to be gone. I guess user name changes will be in order.
For a second, I thought you were referring to TA's practice of moderation....

No, they'll be too embarrassed to keep their current names. Go to something like Keef2.

Trial is a nothing burger, folks are not buying MSM echoing the same 6 year nonsense about terrible ol bad Trump.

On a another note:

Cheney looks like Miss Piggy, her warmongering dad has got to be please with his offspring going after the man that made Jeb Bush look the idiot. Her career is done.

I admit I haven't watched a minute of this farce hearing.

Has there been a genuine attempt to ask the Capitol Police why they held the door open for the protestors to enter, and even directed them where to go?

Because if not, then this sham trial is an even bigger sham than I thought it was.
They don't care about what the Capitol Police did or didn't do because they aren't interested in the actual protest/riot itself nor really the people that participated in it. Their sole goal has been to use the pretense of the riot and "what went wrong that day" to go after Trump, his staffers, and potentially Republicans in Congress. This isn't an exercise in showing flaws in their security, how to change the electoral count process, etc as much as it is a political witchhunt to get Trump either on something criminal or push him to withdraw from 2024, and likely both.

This is like daycare recess compared to your precious BLM riots. Or actually any liberal riots that are pretty much occurring on a regular basis really. It's impossible to take you seriously.
Also note: this is THE WORST she could find. Unlike the BLM riots which happen largely in the dark and we rarely see the worst of em - THIS is the worst of it.

(Well, aside from an officer killing an unarmed Ashley Babbit the second she goes further than they're willing to let folks go, or the their side's antifa thug busting windows)

I do not think Trump was stupid enough to say or do anything to get caught.

That ship has sailed. America has a historic problem with accountability. Incoming Presidents have shielded previous administrations from litigation with pardons for far less, like Nixon's DNC break-in and Bush's torture program. This situation is different in three ways though: it disrupted the peaceful transfer (1st in US history) and almost caused a constitutional crisis; the illicit activity falls into multiple jurisdictions (not just federal) as Trump attempted to change the vote in multiple States; Trump won't receive a pardon from the sitting President. Maybe America will do the right thing or maybe it won't. But if people here had any honesty, they would admit that they would be outraged and demanding action if the shoe was on the other foot.
first of all the shoe was on the other foot and there was absolutely zero accountability. The 1st in US history was the Obama admin spying on Trump during the campaign and during the transition; and then using the bogus Mueller investigation to try to drum him out of office on a complete lie of Russian collusion.

So when people like me see that, then a bogus impeachment on the basis of hearsay evidence of a normal phone call we're much less inclined to see it your way on something like Jan 6th and think that this committee is really truth seeking and not just cooking up more lies to "get Trump".

An illogical argument, but a very human one.

I don't think the third-highest position in the House Republican leadership jumped ship because of heresay.

eta: "Obama admin spying" was approved by Republican judges and the sitting President was not involved, unlike the case being made by the committee. Muller investigation was approved by Republicans, and Muller is a Republican that goes to church with Barr. Russian collusion was admitted by Republican's in their intel committee report.

So you denying Trump asked Pelosi to call in national guard troops?
"Trump asked Pelosi to call in national guard troops?".

What a remarkably stupid comment.

Trump is commander in chief.

Are you really this ignorant? Calling out the guard requires the cooperation of governors and city officials. It is illegal for a president to use military for law enforcement

Quote:

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is overseen by the Capitol Police Board and has Congressional oversight by appropriations and authorizing committees from the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. This oversight affords the Department the support and opportunity to continually ensure that the USCP meets the safety and security needs of the Congress, the staff, and the many visitors who come to the United States Capitol each day.

https://www.uscp.gov/the-department/oversight

Pelosi was not a chair or administrator of any committee supervising the Capitol Police at the time of the insurrection. She's not listed on any of those committees' websites today, either.

Uh, Sparky, you may want to reread your post above. That has nothing to do with what we are talking about. That's general appropriations and oversight, mostly budgetary and resource allocation.

As I've already posted, this news story outlines exactly how the chain of command went. USCP had to ask for permission from SGT @ Arms to have NG on premises. SGT @ Arms denied permission. SGT @ Arms for House reports directly to Pelosi.

https://mynbc15.com/news/nation-world/trump-admin-was-ready-to-deploy-national-guard-on-jan-6-capitol-police-timeline-shows-january-donald

I'm done. You are not acting in good faith in any of your responses.
Name-calling.. Yeah, sounds like you are done.

What you fail to understand: The Capitol Police Board oversees the Capitol Police

While a member of this board, the House sergeant-at-arms, does report to Pelosi, there's no indication that Pelosi prevented this official from accepting National Guard support. Furthermore, another member of the board, the Senate sergeant-at-arms, reports to the leading Republican member of the Senate, Mitch McConnell. There's no evidence that McConnell prevented this official from calling for support either.

Took several posts, but I'm glad to see you finally admit that Pelosi controls the Capitol Police

In an amazing display of poetic justice, this thread has surpassed the inept charade taking place at the Capitol.

Still not funny though, as so many have lost due process for over a year for criminal trespassing. (Notice that says "so many" and not "all" for the hyperbole crowd). If only they were in the country illegally and committed murder, they could have retained more rights.

Anything that comes out of this farce has as much credibility as pencil neck's persistent proclamations that he has evidence of Trump's collusion with Russia during the 2016 election.

So Jamie Raskin has been on the news defending Hutchinson.

Why is a member of the committee taking sides with a witness in a "bipartisan" fact-finding select committee?

Except Schiff, Raskin, and most of our res libs still believe in the Collusion Delusion and that Trump is a Russian agent.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival.
