Yeah; I laughed out loud at that one. Most of my conversations with my Mom go like that as she tries to sell junk on Facebook Marketplace. "This Ernest doll is worth $300." "No Mother, it is only worth what someone will pay for it" ~ best offer is $25.

I think Logan's attempt to acquire the other company was going to be a last ditch effort to bolster the stock price for him to make a run at actually acquiring GoJo like he had planned originally or using it as leverage for something else. His call to the kids though was great; "Congratulations on saying the biggest number you stupid ****s." They basically wasted 3 billion dollars by entering the bidding war with their Father.

I think this was separate from the Waystar Gojo merger. He wasn't acquiring Pierce for Waystar.
Considering neither Logan nor the kids can buy Pierce until Gojo goes through and they get money for their stock its obviously not part of that deal but a move that comes after.

IMO Tom did it intentionally for love. He obviously still wants to reconcile, but shiv is so broken she can't. That scene between the two of them is just so good. Tom trying desprately to air things out and shiv trying desprately to avoid doing so.

I think between that and the diner scene its amazing how Logan ahs broken all his kids so badly.

When Roman is the voice of reason you know you're ****ed. I like how he tried to convey to them these numbers they were throwing around were astronomically large and they were like "so what." Great line by Logan: "Congratulations on saying the biggest number you ****ing morons."
They were so afraid of getting beat by the old man, they upped their bid $2b based on their paranoia.
I think you can take it as they were right to do so though. Logan would have paid that and more, and he tried to, but they had closed the bidding. They beat him at his own game for the first time in the show.

Logan wanted to outbid them still. Did you miss that? Yeah, they came in super high, but Logan still wanted to pay MORE bust wasn't allowed to.

Great first episode, I just love being back with the Roys.

Kendall/Shiv/Roman vs Logan, it just doesn't get old to me. Bringing back the Pierce storyline makes total sense to me. It's Logan's white whale, and his kids know it, he wants it, they just want it out of spite...what could possibly go wrong? This is all contingent upon the structure of the GOJO deal, there's going to be a problem there, for sure.

The part where Kendall is laying out the role of each kid is just so tone deaf and perfect for him. Roman is simultaneously the only one with the right idea of doing something on their own, but also the easiest one to roll over because he doesn't want to do anything by himself, even if it's the right call. There's so much co-dependency amongst the kids.

Logan is rattled, the scene where he's demanding to be roasted is indicative that he misses his kids. Regardless of anything he can count on them for comedy, being separated from them is bothering him, even if he'd never admit it.

Anytime Connor's presidential run comes up I'm already smiling, it's nothing but comedy gold to me. The entire conversation with Willow about keeping it going at 1% to the tune of $100MM or having a wedding on a yacht in front of the Statue of Liberty with bum fights to generate PR is one of the best things ever said on this show.

Tom & Greg, outstanding. Tom telling Greg "you have to tell him" and then it happening had me rolling. Tom & Greg always deliver. Greg's date getting thrown out for asking for a selfie with Logan, so good. I really don't know how those two keep it together when they're filming.

Logan is supposed to be a savvy businessman.

The whole episode made it clear that both he and the kids threw out sense or logic and were making things personal.

If "making the right decision" was solely based on beating Logan, then sure, it was the right decision. But I don't think Logan's game was over paying for crappy companies prior to his existential crisis.

That is up for debate. I think that's the big question for this season. In my mind, Tom's interaction with Greg is port hole into who Tom really is. Is he a buffoon who has just enough social awareness to play nice in public, or is his biggest joy in life screwing with Greg? Are they equals?

Oh, you have a way different view of Logan than I do.

Logan throws out logic and makes bad business deals throughout the entire show. I think at one time he was a savy businessman, but for the duration of this show he's made bad decision after bad decision. They're almost always influenced by his emotions and not what is wise.

For instance, season 2, he has a deal to buy Pierce - the same ****ing company - done for 25 billion. What does it in? The fact that he doesn't like being told what to do. We see the same when he's dealing with presidents, with people in his own company, with his children, over and over and over again.

All Logan cares about is "winning". That's it. Thats always been the case for every season of this show.

I agree. My rabbit hole is he does this on purpose knowing how bad the 3 stooges want to get back at their dad and knowing he's heading for divorce. I'm sure he has a pre-nup but he get's something outta her sinking her whole waystar money into a dying company. Or whatever happens in the divorce prevents them from closing and Nam has to crawl back to Logan.

Caught up on the premiere and so glad this show is back.

The scene between the kids and Logan trying to outbid each other was intense and great.

Tom and Greg together are always the best.

I have not seen any previews from this season because I don't what to know what happens in future scenes. It's going to be a great season and I'm all in for it.

Karl and Frank trying to "do jokes" was amazing. Just the ultimate personality-less yes men.

Also, did we know much about Greg's dad before this? Logan's comment seemed to make Greg wince a little bit, but now I can't remember if we had any info on him before.
