I've always heard that the new composite bats have integrity issues under 60 deg. Found this article saying that even the aluminum alloy bats have issues under 50 deg due to ball being harder.

Question… how often is the cold temperature a concern? is this a contributing factor to our mid week game being canceled? Is it a real concern that could affect the game? Or are we more concerned about cold muscle injuries in a non conference game? Thoughts and discussion…

For the midweek, it may have been injuries and possibility of poor driving conditions since McNeese had to drive to and from on the same day.

As for bat integrity, I don't think that would have been on the players mind, they have ways to keep them warm in the dugouts if they need to.

Idk what time the cold front was supposed to roll through C-Stat last night, but it got dangerously cold very quickly in Fort Worth last night.

But when it comes to bat integrity, if you DONT have heaters, don't be surprised to see some broken bats. Same manufacturers, but different tech, we see a bunch of broken bats in the cold during the winter Slowpitch season. I'm assuming it would be the same way in baseball with composite and alloy bats.

May not be a big deal, but I don't see any of our kids hitting Easton Ghosts. Aren't they the top of the line in today's game? Are we a Louisville sponsored team? Or some other manufacturer?

Louisville Slugger has a warning about using under 60 F but doesn't seem to void the warranty

We are sponsored by Demarini. Most of our team swings The Goods which is a 2 piece, composite handle with alloy barrel. Very few college players swing composite barrels. In BBCOR, the composite barrels just aren't as good.

Most I see are DeMarini "the goods"

Probably going to see some crazy exit velocities this weekend. If winds are favorable, hr record should be broken!

BBCOR bats get brittle in cold weather. Aluminum Alloy is better in the cold but can also be susceptible as well. Also the baseballs get denser in cold weather which also can damage bats.

Hit it with the sweet spot and you won't even feel it. Grip it tight and avoid the vibration which causes the sting when not hit with the meat of the bat.

BBCOR bats are made of aluminum or composites - same as youth bats.

Softball definitely hits Louisville Sluggers. They had some issues last year. Broke quite a few I understand. We saw at least one in a game. Looked like a wood bat breaking as half the bat flew at the third baseman

Either way we are gonna destroy some bats and batting records tomorrow! Got to get our HR's in before the weekend rain!
