Apparantly James Corden does alot of these... he did one with Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, and Elizabeth Banks where them four competed to see who would be the best astronaut... it's hilarious just for the commentary.

Kind of happy to hear this. I watched it in an IPIC theater, I haven't been to a movie in forever but was by far the most comfortable theater I've been to. Wanted to go watch it in the Houston Marquee IMAX, was bummed that I may have missed my window.

1 o'clock showing on a work day and still a decently full theater.

One thing I noticed this go round is that Penny always calls him Pete. She never refers to him by his callsign.

One thing I do wish was included was maybe a scene from the carrier to show their reaction as Mav and Rooster take out the Su-57s in an F14. Obviously that would disrupt the flow of that scene so makes sense not to include it

This is realistic. Whenever I was at a get together with the other pilot wives, we never referred to our husbands by their call-signs... just their first names.

Oh I'm sure, but in the first Charlie always refers to him as Lt. Only time she calls him Pete is when she's telling him she's leaving and it's kinda like an insult.

I thought it was a good way to show their relationship is much closer than the Charlie in the first film

I'm somewhat begrudgingly heading out to see Jurassic World: Dominion, and just realized that this will be the first blockbuster I've seen since, like, spring 2019 or so that won't have a Top Gun: Maverick trailer attached to it. It's so weird how, because of all the delays, that became such a staple of movie-going for so long. Kind of bittersweet now...

Same. I made a point to go back and watch the IMAX version before the theater switched to JP. But the first viewing (regular theater) was better. And the sound was night and day different.

Agreed. Also, since Charlie worked with him at Top Gun, it was more expected for her to address him with his call sign. I think it was another brilliant stroke in the movie to revive Penny Benjamin to be his long term love interest. It didn't require as much "back story" to explain why they were together.

Wow. How do you pull that off 36 years later after the original? Tom Cruise just knows how to make good movies. Yes he's playing the same character over and over but he makes it work. It made all the nods back to the original and the in air shots were amazing.

I grew up on the Tomcat in not just Top Gun but The Final Countdown before it so it was fun to see the Cat get a call back here.
